I am looking for any information about my gg-grandparents John William REED (1813-1883) and Lorinda WEBSTER (1823-1902) they moved to Collins, Huron Co., Ohio in 1872 and were buried in Collins, Ohio. John William REED had a sister who married an Isaac MCKESSON who also lived in Collins and possibly other siblings lived in Collins. I have John William REED's obituary from the Townsend Newspaper by H. Place, he attended a M. E. church where Rev. Hiram Royce ministered. Lorinda WEBSTER was matron of the Huron Co., Childrens Home from 1885-1889. Their son (my g-grandfather) John Edgar REED, a Union vet, died June 7, 1905 in Collins and is probably buried there. Can anyone tell me what John William REED's sisters name was who married Isaac MCKESSON? Are there any descendants around today. Are there any other related REED descendants in Huron county? Where are these people buried? Any info, hints or leads are appreciated.

My ancestors were early pioneers of northern Ohio and some of our family moved to the Sandusky area. Our families moved to northern Ohio from Pennsylvania and Maryland. I don't know all of our surnames because maternal names are often lost in families and of course, I don't know the surnames of all our Ohio relatives I am writing to ask if any of you know of a hereditary blood disorder in your family called Hereditary Sphereocytosis. My hematologist said that 50% of my relatives probably have this disorder because it is autosomal dominant. Sometimes this disease can be silent, as it had been in my family until my mother's cousin died of it (probably of a ruptured spleen) and her son and I were diagnosed with it and had spleenectomies. Sometimes Hereditary Sphererocytosis is so subtle, it can't be seen on a regular red-blood count smear. Apparently a regular RBC smear doesn't pick it up in our in our family, but a hematologist will know what to do to be sure. My hematologist said that he recently had a patient in his seventies who had no idea that he had this blood disorder until tests picked it up. Because even those who have the more serious form of the disease can have subtle symptoms, it can be dangerous if someone has it and doesn't know it. Hereditary Sphereocytosis is characterized by small, fragile, sphere-shaped red corpuscles and most people afflicted with it are of northwestern European descent. Sometimes anemia and jaundice are obvious with this disease, but sometimes, those symptoms are subtle, even in those who have the more serious form of the disease. This has been the case in our family. I would be grateful to hear from anyone who might have this disease in their families. One reason is that my hematologist has found some mysteries associated with my form of Hereditary Sphererocytosis that I would like to compare with others who may have some of the same difficulties. Another is this could be a great way to find cousins who have so far been lost because maternal names change and we lose track of family lines. This is a relatively rare disease, so it may be a good first step in finding cousins.

Wayne French Look Up Results - Grace and Ethel were my Sunday School teachers (Cradle Roll they called it) back in the 1950's. The "ELMES Sisters", as everyone called them, lived on Cooper Street in Wakeman. They were very active in the Church (Wakeman Congregational) and were both good friends of my grandmother. I believe neither was ever married. I have a copy of the 1929 Wakeman High School Alumni Banquet program which lists Grace as a graduate of the year 1912 and residing in Detroit. It lists Ethel as a graduate of the year 1913 and residing in Wakeman. Also listed in 1913 is Emma, residing in Oberlin, Ohio. Also, I believe I have viewed their tombstones in the Wakeman Cemetery.

The following people are found in a Sherman Twp., Huron Co., OH cemetery. I have been searching for this family forever. Finding them here is a blessing. However, I do not have dates on them and was wondering if someone could do some kind of look up on them. Clark PUFFER was b. in Shaftsbury, VT 11-6-1781, the s/o Dr. Timothy and Elizabeth (CADY) PUFFER. Clark's name came from his paternal grandmother, Esther Clark PUFFER w/o Timothy, Sr. He and his father helped to establish the town of Junius, Seneca Co., NY. His father, a Rev. War Soldier, and his step mother, Mary, are buried in Junius. His mother is buried on the old PUFFER farm in a family cemetery in Glenville, Schenectady Co., NY. He married Charlotte FREES, the widow of John FREES, in Junius. I believe she was the daughter of Benjamin HOWE. Clark was a first cousin to Judge Daniel CADY who was the father of Elizabeth CADY STANTON the woman who started the Woman's Movement in Seneca Falls, Seneca Co., NY. Are there any FREES children in this cemetery?

Tom Neel Look Up Results - The following reference might help you-- Weeks, F.E. Pioneer History of Clarksfield. 1908. Pages 37-39. "His [Smith STARR's] children were John Taylor, Mary, Rory, Peter, Deborah Ann, Smith and William Knapp." It gives some good information on Smith STARR, who died in 1856 at age 72, and his wife Joanna KNAPP, who died in 1846 at age 63. There are also paragraphs of some of the children, Taylor STARR 1806, Mary STARR 1808, Rory STARR 1810, Peter STARR 1812, Deborah STARR 1816, Smith STARR Jr. 1824, and William K. STARR 1825. I guess that's all the children. You should get a copy of those three pages before you proceed with your search.
