I recently recieved my ggg-grandmother's death certificate. It states that her parents are Peter and Minnie HEYMAN. The family is from Switzerland and were in Monroeville, Huron County, OH by 1878 for the marriage of their daughter Minnie to Frederick MAURER. I know that Fred and Minnie (HEYMAN) MAURER moved to Seneca county by 1880. Did her parents also move or did they stay in Huron county? Who are the other children of Peter and Minnie HEYMAN? When did they come to Huron county? Any information on the HEYMAN family would be greatly appreciated.

SCHOHN died late Friday night at her home: 3611 Charlotte street., Lawrenceville, after 11 weeks illness. She was a native of Monroeville, O., and was the daughter of Christian DUFFNER. Twenty-eight years ago she married and the family came to Pittsburgh 26 years ago. She was an active member of St. Augustin Roman Catholic church and of the L.C.B.A. She is survived by her husband and five children, Elias C.,, Wilfred A., Marcella G., Clement J., and Edward W. SCHOHN; three sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Joseph FLEITZ, Forty-fourth street and Penn Avenue; Mrs. Mary ZIPFEL; Mrs. Joseph HOHLER, Monroeville, O.; Joseph DUFFNER, Norwalk, O.; and George DUFFNER, Cleveland, O. Requiem high mass will be solemnized at St. Augustin church at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning, with the interment in St. Augustin cemetery, near Millvale. I sent for a death cert. to verify information and was surprised to find that her parents were listed as John FLEITZ b. Germany and Anna HOUSEHOLDER b. Germany. Information was given by Joseph F. I would really appreciate any help you could give me locating my LANIGAN relatives who lived in Norwalk. My grandfather and his two sisters were born there but his father and mother were born in Ireland. My grandfather was James Michael LANIGAN, born 1847 we think. He was baptized in St. Mary's Church. His parents were Irish immigrants, Michael LANIGAN and Julia DUFFY LANIGAN. My grandfather came to Rochester NY and died and is buried there. I would like to find death certificates for his parents. I know that Michael was alive about 1910 or 11 but I think Julia may have been dead then. We would like any information about them.

Date posted: Saturday, May 22, 1999

In March of 1880, Asher COLE (son of Miner COLE and Mary ALLEN) applied in the Huron County courts to adopt Orill (Orville?) ALLEN. Orill was born on March 9, 1874, and was the "child of Martha ALLEN, now BUTTS, wife of C. H. BUTTS." Court records referred to "Martha BUTTS, nee ALLEN." Marriage records in Huron revealed a marriage between Henry O. (C?) BUTT and Martha E. ALLEN on July 9, 1878 at Norwalk. In a COLE family biography from one of the county histories, Orill ALLEN was referred to as "a distant relative" of the COLEs. I would like to learn more of Martha ALLEN BUTTS, and try to discover if she is related to the COLEs through Mary ALLEN, wife of Miner COLE. Was Martha's maiden name really ALLEN, or was she a widow? Who were her parents, and where did they come from? Martha, Henry, and other BUTTS family members are listed in the Huron Book. Could someone do a lookup for me? And if anyone can place Martha in a Huron County ALLEN family, I would be most grateful.

I am searching for my COOK ancestors. I believe they were from Cook's Corner(s). My great grandfather was James H. COOK b. abt 1840 m. to Velora BRYANT dau. of Ansel D. BRYANT and Lydia VINING of Huron County. I've been in touch with Jim Cook, [email protected], he says that my James H. COOK was the son of James H. COOK b. Mar. 13, 1819 in North Monroeville (son of Samuel COOK and Susanna SWEET). Jim Cook hasn't sent any proof of the relationship between the two James H. COOKs. I checked his genealogy file that was online and there is no spouse named for James H. COOK b. Mar. 13, 1819; nor are there any children listed for him. I can't accept this James H. COOK as my gg grandfather without some sort of proof. I do know that my COOKs migrated from NY to OH. It is possible that they migrated from CT to NY then to OH? If anyone has any information I would really appreciate it.
