I see in the latest issue of the Kinologist that the library has much of the Plymouth Advertiser since 1851 on microfilm. I'm hoping that information about my grandfather's parents are included in his obituary or any other report about his death that were probably in that newspaper. His name was Edward Lafayette (Lafe) DAVIS and he died in New Haven on Sept. 22, 1923. The report of his death on the front page of the Norwalk Reflector Herald for Sept. 24, 1923 did not include any information about his parents and some of the information on his death certificate about them is obviously incorrect.

I am seeking descendants of Hiram ABBOTT, b. 1818 in Butler Co. Ohio, d, 1899 in Huron Co., Ohio and his wife, Charlotte KNICKERBOCKER, b.abt. 1822 in NY. Charlotte's parents were David KNICKERBOCKER and Diadama HAVILAND. My husband is descended from Charlotte's brother, Larra KNICKERBOCKER. I know Diadama died in Wakeman Twp., Huron Co. March 3, 1874 and would like to know where she is buried. David and Diadama were the parents of about nine children and to date I can only identify three, Charlotte, Larra and David Jr. This information I gleaned from Diadama's unsuccessful attempt to receive a widow's pension for David serving in the War of 1812. The records indicate they listed him as a deserter. Since it appears that after the death of David KNICKERBOCKER in Cook Co., Illinois in 1838 Diadama lived near or with her daughter, Charlotte that her descendants might have more information on this family. They lived in Ontario Co., NY in their early marriage. Will gladly share what information I do have.

According to "Huron County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions" by the Huron County Chapter, OGS, 1997, the KEELERs you asked about are buried in St.Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Norwalk Twp. Plots are not noted, only grave numbers. p543 #172 KEELER, Jemima, b. 30 aug. 1774; d. 21 June 1859; "trust ye and depart for this is not your rest." p543 #173 KEELER, Luke, b. 15 Feb.1770; d. 4 Nov. 1843. According to the index of this book, Lewis and "R." KEELER should be listed on p544, but I can not find them there or anywhere else among the 339 graves listed in this cemetery. On p547 the occupants of Row 7 - East are all KEELERs. Lewis and Rebecca are not listed, but there are a "Father" and "Mother" who could be them.

I'm researching PRICE in Huron Co. The following is from "History of the Firelands...." "Three families named PRICE settled in Hartland Township in 1835. They were a father and 2 sons, but they are gone." "Elijah PRICE came from Cayuga NY, took up Lot 17 Sec 2" "Elijah PRICE and his brother William came soon after 1830. They were from Cayuga Co NY. Elijah settled upon Lot 13 Sec 2 and his brother soon removed to Clyde." The Huron Co Marriage Index shows Lovina PRICE marrying Charles BLACKMAN 11 Dec 1845. The 1840 Huron Co Census shows a Horatio PRICE and a "T" (I can't make out the first name) PRICE. I'd appreciate any other look-ups for PRICE. (I'm hoping to figure out who Lovina's parents were. She was born (somewhere) in NY. She named my gr grandfather William 'Horatio' BLACKMAN, so I've wondered if there's a connection to the Horatio PRICE on the 1840 census.)

All these folks were part of the MEAD, LIVERMORE, DAY, ROGERS tribe that apparently migrated, intermarried, etc. in NY, to Huron Co. OH, then on to IA. Might someone have a handle on who her parents and siblings were? Also - is the "MEAD homestead" that Beth just referenced tied in to this family? Possible places are Hillsdale County, Michigan; Huron County, Ohio; LaGrange County, Indiana or Steuben County Indiana. Have a court order dated Sep 1851 from LaGrange County that dissolves this marriage. It seems that he was married to Sarah the same time he was married to my g-g-g-grandmother Patience COOPER.

I am attempting to locate the place and date of a marriage between Lafayette WILKINSON and Sarah JOHNSON. Estimated date is 1845-1850.

I am a descendent of Henry COOKE, who was a resident of Salem, MA in 1638. For the past year or so, I have been a member of a Cook rootsweb group. About two months ago, Russell Miller in Seattle posted an inquiry on the Cook page. We are both descended from Asaph COOKE, born in 1781, of Granville, New York. This Asaph moved to Monroeville, Huron County Ohio in 1818, along with his sons -- or most of them.

I am researching HASSENPFLUG, ANGERSBACH, KLAHOLZ, all German names, and also DEVENY in the Huron County area. All the German relatives settled in or around Brownhelm, Lorain County, but I believe they had relatives over here before 1853 and that some of them were in Huron County. I have papers for a Benjamin Franklin DEVENY, whose children lived in Huron County, Ohio, according to intestate papers filed after he died in 1905. Surviving children were Timothy F. DEVENY, Benjamin Franklin DEVENY, William H. DEVENY, Lloyd Bert DEVENY, all of Plymouth, Huron County, Ohio and Mary E. Deveny BLAND of Chicago, Huron County, Ohio, plus Jennie DEVENY, married, but married name unknown, whose last known address was Chicago, Illinois. The mother of these children was Margaret RESLER or Margaret ZEIGLER. There are conflicting reports about her last name. The marriage certificate I found says RESLER, but some of the grandchildren thought it was ZEIGLER. If anyone has any information on any of these folks, I would like to hear from you.
