I would like to hear of any information available about the Ruess and Hirzel families of Norwalk (Hartland Twp) OH. Many of them later moved to Cuyahoga County. My Great, great grandfather was Albert Hirzel (1861-1935) who came from Murrhardt, Germany (near Stuttgart around 1880. He married Katherine Ruess (1865-1914) of the Norwalk area. Katherine's parents were Michael Ruess and Christina (Steuber) Ruess who was born in Germany in 1825. Katherine's siblings were Jacob Ruess, William Ruess, Christian Ruess, Karl Ruess, and Michael Ruess.

Revolutionary soldier Oliver GILLET(T), b 1766/67 in Connecticut, m Minerva ?????, b 1766/67 in Connecticut moved to Huron Co when??? Oliver and Minerva both died after 1850. I have at least one son, William "Chauncey" Gillett, b 1790 in CT, d 1863 Bath Twp, Summit Co, OH. Chauncey was my husband's 4th g. grandfather. Particularly want to know date of Oliver's arrival in Ohio. Was it before 1820? Belive that Oliver may have stopped in Onondaga Co, NY, for a time before coming to Ohio. Would also like to know location of his residence in Connecticut. Was he a "Mary and John" descendant??

They had nine children, six born in Oxford Township, Huron Co. (now Erie Co.) Louise(Ensign) Putnam died 5 April 1840, in Hillsdale County, MI. Family tradition (notes of my grandfather) indicate that Louise was born 23 April 1798 in Whitestown, Oneida Co., NY.

Researching Edwin Satterly BUNCE b. Aug 1819 Chautauqua Co, NY. Married Emily BARBER 15 Apr 1845 Lorain Co, OH. He died 1903 Minneapolis, MNN. It is said that they were classmates at Norwalk Seminary. I am looking for parents or family members of both Edwin and Emily. She came to OH with her parents as a child. At the time of their marriage he lived in Brighton and she in Ridgeville. I believe two of his sisters could be Laura Jane and Mary Elvira BUNCE who married John HOVEY. Laura and Mary are daughters of William and Sarah (HAMILTON) BUNCE. Edwin and Emily moved to Wisconsin and Minnesota where he was a pioneer circuit rider for the Methodist Church.
