WELCOME

THIS WEB SITE EXISTS FOR THE DESCENDANTS OF ADAM AND AGNES VATH

My name is Barry Vath  and  my family lives in Michigan. My Great Great Grandparents are Adam and Agnes Vath.. Adam and Agnes moved their family from Bavaria Germany to Illinois in the early 1860s. Part of that family was my Great Grandfather Victor who was barely a year old at the time.

Lacking any information about Victors early years in Illinois I find him in 1883 married to Louisa Smith. Victor then moves his family to the Sand Hills of Nebraska in the late 1880s. where  he found a job working on what was then known as the "RED RANCH".  After a few years he bought a "pre-empted"  place in the sand hills and raised cattle, hogs and ran a truck farm. Victor raised a lot of melons and according to my uncle Wendell he was known as "THE WATERMELON KING". How many of you can claim royalty in the family?  His family soon grew to eleven children one of which was my Grandfather  Louie Vath.

Victors brother Konrad married  Louisa's sister  Anna and they also moved their family of  nine boys and one daughter to the sand hills. The children of both familys went to the same school and it is said that more then half of the thirty five children in  school were Vaths.
