THE CASE OF A CROOKED LEG

In January 1986, I went down town to a men's clothing store and bought a suit of clothes.  Both coat and pants needed some alterations and the salesman said for me to come back in three days.  I went back in 3 days, tried them on and the seamstress failed to get the pants just right, so again they said come back in 3 or 4 days.  I went back and something was still wrong.  This time the seamstress
came to see if she could find the trouble.  After looking at the pants on me, she meditated a minute
and then
She said:    "Oh! I see what the trouble is, you have a crooked leg".
I said:        "Now that IS something; after 80 years someone tells me I have a crooked leg".
She said:    "But you are not 80.
I said:         "I was born in 1905 and this is 1986, you count it.".
Then she and the salesman both said, "Tells us your secret for a long life".
I said:        "My secret is: "No tobacco, drugs, nor drinking; plenty of exercise and positive thinking".

I think I have been conscious of the value of exercise ever since I was big enough to run around the house several times before breakfast.  Now, at age 81, I am still getting my exercise by walking 1 1/2 to 3 miles before breakfast when the weather permits.  On my 80th birthday, I walked, without stopping, to the top of the hill where the Caudill Cemetery is on Froghonary.

I believe that God starts us out, when we are born, with bodies that would last 100 years and more if properly cared for.  I believe God intended for our bodies to be Temples in which to house His Holy Spirit while we are on this earth.  For us to abuse or destroy our bodies is a sin against God.  There are thousands of young people today who are abusing and destroying their bodies by the use of tobacco, alcohol, and the wrong use of drugs.
