Henderson James Hunter Sr. was born in Gary Indiana on July 16th, 1924. He was the first child of James and Maude Cahn Hunter of East Chicago Indiana (by way of New Orleans).

As a young man, he moved to Chicago. There he met Mae McDonald who would become his first wife and the mother of his children. They joined St Anslem Parish where they were married and their children were baptised and educated. His children Henderson Jr. Christopher, Elease and Candace were his absolute joy. One of his proudest moments he liked to tell was when a stranger in a restaurant on a road trip told him he had never seen such well behaved children.

Henderson had an analytical mind which allowed him to early work with computers and data entry systems. He worked with Michael Reese Hospital for many years, setting up their original data system and H R protocol. His easy manner and tall stature is remembered fondly from all who worked within those walls.

In his later years, Henderson married his second wife and long-time companion, Ruth Lawhorn. He made his way to a brighter place in Henderson, Nevada on September 30, 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his sister Elizabeth (Arsene), his children: Henderson Jr. (Susan) Elease Dorsey (Lawrence) and Candace, his grandchildren: Kristen, Aaron, Tracey, Nefertiti, and his nephews, Barry (Carolyn) and David (Angela) as well as many other relatives and friends who loved and admired him.
