Julius Henderson Hunter Jr.
January 7 1942- December 3, 2006
Julius Henderson Hunter Jr.entered into eternal rest on Saturday,
December 3 2006. He was born on January 7, 1942 to the union
of Julius H and Mercedes Hunter.. Father of Julius H. Hunter
III and Erica Hunter Douroux by first marriage.
On December 24, 1996 he married Joyce Lafargue Hunter, a union
that lasted until his demise. Julius was blessed with three sisters:
Elaine H Dillion, Leah H. Crosby and 'Raenell H. Carter and one
brother Ralph H. Hunter Sr.
Julius accepted Christ as ;his savior at an early age and was
baptized at Regular Baptist Church by the late Rev. Louis H.
Harrang. He was educated at Frederick Douglas Elementary and
Lincoln High Schools and received a Bachelor of Education from
Southern University and a Master degree in Administration from
Loyola University in New Orleans. He unselfishly dedicated his
life to the education of young people and made a difference in the
lives of both students and fellow constituents. Julius was a
dedicated educator for thirty three years and retired as Principal
of Harry S. Truman Middle School in Jefferson Parish. Although
retired, he tutored his great nieces and nephews during the summer.
Julius was a dedicated member of Kappa
Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Chairperson of Jefferson Youth Foundation
and a member of the Kiwanis Club.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Joyce F. Hunter, two
children; Julius H. Hunter, III and Erica H. Douroux, one
granddaughter, India Douroux, three sisters: Elaine H. Dillon, Leah
H. Crosby, Raenell H. carter, one brother, Ralph H. Hunter Sr.,
Stepdaughters, Lisa Ausoone, and Troy Craft, eight step
grandchildren and three step great garnd children, God mother:
Natalie Stewart of Sacramento, CA, six nieces, five nephews, three
God children and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Julius Henderson Hunter,
Sr. Mercedes Baptiste and stepfather James Baptist, brothers-in-law:
Donald Dillion, Wilfred Crosby and sister- in-law, Della B.
Hunter.
