The following is a partial list of "Isle of Wight Co., VA. marriages 1628-1800" found on microfilm at the Family History Center. Film # 0962246 item #2. It was compiled and edited by Blanche Adams Chapman in 1933. The following is an excerpt from the preface:
"The dates given in the list are the dates upon the papers in which the proof of marriage is found. Where the evidence was not strong enough to actually prove a claim, although I believed it to be true I have entered it as a marriage, preceeded by the following symbol, #. The book in the Isle of Wight Records, known as the "Great Book" is composed of both deeds and wills; if the proof is in the deeds the reference is listed as G.B., if it is to be found in Wills I have enterd it as G.B.2."
