LANE, Lucy
I am searching for any info on LUCY LANE of Heard Co., GA. She was born about 1859. I believe she may be the LUCY LANE listed in the 1870 Randolph Co., AL census. If she is, she is related to the prominent methodist preacher HENRY LANE of VA>GA>AL.. Lucy's father may have been JAMES LANE of Randolph Co. She married William "Tom" Phillips. She died in 1902 and is buried at Ridgeway United Methodist Church in Heard Co., GA. Any help on her parentage would be greatly appreciated. Turn of the century court house fires have hendered my search for two years now.

LANE, Ralph, Hawk, and Jim
I am searching for the line of my great, great, grandfather. He lived in Tennessee (Ridgely?) during the early part of this century. On 11 Nov 1909 he was presented with a son, Ralph Andrew Lane. I believe his name was Jim. My grandmother also tells me that his brother's name was Hawk. I can't find anything on either of these. Can anyone help?

Please E-mail any information to Jerry Lane Thanks.

LANE, John Calvin
Can anybody help me sort out these people? Any help would be appreciated. I feel sure these LANEs connect, but haven't proved it or tied them to earlier generations.

Rev. John Pinckney ALLEY (1840 AR - 1891 AR) md Malana SNOW (1843 GA - 1880 AR) in 1859 Saline Co., AR, a d/o Obadiah and Malana (McMURRAY) SNOW. Obadiah was supposedly 1/2 Cherokee. The ALLEYs had 8 children. 2 of their daughters md the same LANE man:
1. Georgia An Arnutious "Nettie" ALLEY (1869 AR - 1891 AR) md John Calvin LANE 1856 - 1922) of Saline Co., AR, in 1887 at Lonoke Co., AR. He was s/o Felix Donald LANE (1827-1881) and Leah PHILLIPS (1827-1867). His grandfather was supposedly John LANE (d. 1834 East TN). John Calvin LANE's sister was Mattie Leah LANE (d. 1925/26), who md Dudley EVERETT of Cabot, Lonoke Co., AR. (See EVERETT connection below.) Nettie and John LANE had 3 children: 1) Edward Flack LANE, 2) Calvin Alley LANE, and 3) Mattie Leah LANE--all d. in infancy.

2. John LANE md 2nd his sister-in-law Julia Effie ALLEY (1871-1948) in 1895 and had 5 children: 1) John Calvin "Dick" LANE (1888-1911), 2) Claude Albert LANE (1897-1900), 3) Ruth Effie LANE (b. 1902); 4) Nona May LANE (1904-1925), and 5) Alva Augusta LANE (1906-1926).

Rev. John Pinckney ALLEY [supra] in 1884 at Lonoke Co., AR, md 2nd Mrs. Malinda Catherine (EVERETT) LANE (1844-1931), a d/o J.A. EVERETT. I have not yet proved a connection to Dudley EVERETT supra. She was md 4 times: 1st a Mr. HUTERBERGER & had one dau name unk., 2nd Felix LANE (notice the name Felix LANE appears again--1st reference was to Felix Donald LANE) and had 2 sons: 1) Felix A. LANE (b. 1872, d. young) and 2) Andrew Hunter LANE (1877-1929) md Lula M. FARR (1878-1971) in 1896 3rd Rev. ALLEY and had 2 sons: 1) James Pinckney ALLEY (1885 AR - 1934 TN)--my husband's grandfather, and 2) Calvin William ALLEY (1888-1948). 4th Joseph H. JONES (1837-1912) in 1897 (no issue).

James Pinckney ALLEY (half-bro of the sisters Nettie and Julia (ALLEY) LANE) md Nona Buchanan LANE (1887 AR - 1974 TN) in Pulaski Co., AR in 1908 and had 7 children. After J.P. ALLEY's death, she md Clarence Clement JACKSON (no issue). She was d/o Richard Wesley LANE (1852 AL - 1923 CA) and Elizabeth BUCHANAN (1856 OH - 1900). Family members think Nona likely was a first cousin of the John Calvin LANE, who md the ALLEY sisters. Nona said she was 1/8 Cherokee.

LANE, Mary Jane
Would you be able to provide any information on my great grandmother Mary Jane Lane. Mary Jane was born September 5, 1858 She died on October 23 1913 and is buried in the Welsh Hills Cemetery located near Granville, Ohio.
She married my great grandfather John Darkes. I believe she was born in Newark, Licking Co. , Ohio. They were married on May 14, 1878 and they had seven children of which I can supply information. I do not know her her father was but there is speculation that it could be Joshua Lane. Not sure tho. Her grandfather was John Lane who was married to a Sarah. They had at least one daughter Sarah Ann who married a Hirum H. Coffman and a son , whom I am trying to find out was the father of my great grandmother Mary Jane. My uncle told me that when Mary Jane was a little girl her mother died and she was raised by her Aunt Sarah Ann Coffman. She shows up at age 12 in the Ohio census as living with her. If you could provide the link I would be most humble.

Thanking you in advance. Ron Darkes

LANE, Mary
I am searching for information on the marrieage of Valentine BURGET(T) and Mary LANE. In the "History of Brown County, Ohio" by Beers & Co 1883 it states that "Samuel BURGETT, Georgetown, is one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Pleasant Twp., and Brown Co. He was born on the farm where he now resides Jan. 25, 1812. His parents were Valentine and Mary (LANE) BURGETT, natives of Virginia, the former of German and the latter of English parentage."

From "Historical Collections of Brown County, Ohio" by Carl N. Thompson: Pleasant Township: Among the early settlers in this township were Jacob Burgett, Aaron Burgett, Valentine Burgett..." The Index to Rev War Soldiers: "Valentine Burgett - Buried in Pisgah Ridge Cemetery. All that is available."

Any information that can be found on these people would be greatly appreciated. I know that Aaron Burgett was born around 1780.
Thank you,

Lisa Alexander

LANE, Joseph, Joseph Crane, Charles and John
My mothers maiden name was LANE. Her parents were JOSEPH LANE and ELIZABETH JANE CLARK. JOSEPH was born in 1875 at Fort George, Arderseir, Inverness, whilst his father JOSEPH CRANE LANE was serving in the first Royal Scots, there, IN 1875. JOSEPH CRANE LANE was born 1839 Radford, NEWARK UPON TRENT, NOTTINGHAM, UK. JOSEPH served, between 1861 to 1881. Retiring to PENCICUIK scotland, to resume his career as a Blacksmith. His parents were CHARLES LANE and MARYANN CRANE. There were about nine children of which I have names, 2 of these were born at BILLINGBOROUGH, LINCOLN. CHARLES LANE was born c1804 to JOHN LANE and MILLICENT? There does not appear to be anything else of Millicent after the birth of CHARLES LANE. John seemed to be recorded with other wives after that. The next one was Amelia. The IGI does not show a marraige for John and Milllicent, not in Billingborough anyway. MARYANN CRANE was also born in BILLINGBOROUGH.
My mother Edith Georgina Hilda Lane was born in the West Ham Area, which is also where her parents were married.

Do any of these people, sound like any of your ancestors Please. If so I would like to make contact. Edie McArthur
