In the name of God amen. I George LANE, being sick but of perfect mind amd memory and calling to mind that all men was born to die doth make this last will and testament in manner and form following.
Item I give unto my loving wife Nancy LANE one negro woman Jeny and one boy man called Blaze one bed and furniture, all my household and kitchen furniture beds excepted all my stock of I leave my said wife all my land on the west side of the road leading from New Bern to John Moor's including the buildings only excepting timber necessary for my other lands during natural life I also lend my said wife my negro man Will for her support and son William and my daughter Maria for the time of seven years.
Item I give unto my son George LANE my negro man Will after the expiration of seven years that he is lent unto my wife one man called Picture one bed and Furniture one cow an calf one heifer to him and his assigns forever.
Item I give unto my son William LANE one bay mare colt and bed and furniture, one cow and calf and heifer yearling one young Sow to him his heirs & assigns forever.
Item I give unto my daughter Maria LANE my lot of land in the town of New Bern on Jones Street known in the plan of the town by the number (309) three hundred and fifty nine, two cows and calfs to her heirs and assigns forever.
I give unto my son William LANE one cow and calf forever.
I leave unto my sons George LANE Walter LANE and James LANE all my lands on the east side of the road leading from New Bern to during the lifetime of my said wife.
I leave all my lands after the death of my wife to be equally devided between all the living male heirs of my body.
I leave all the residue of my stock of cattle to my wife. I leave one boy man N-- to be sold for the payment of my just debts.
I do nominate and appoint my wife Nancy LANE to be my whole & sole Executrix.
In witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th day of January 1808.
