This is the National Theater of Ireland in Dublin. We attended a performance of Handel’s “Messiah” while we were in Dublin. Very appropriate since the first performance of this music was in Dublin — tho’, of course, not in this building. Be sure to check out various theater offerings. We were priviledged to see a performance at the Town Hall Theatre of ‘Clann Lir,’an Irish play that was absolutely stunning in its performance, set design and the content of the play itself. The plot was about children being turned into swans; it was well worth the experience. So look around. You can be pleasantly surprised. |

And last but not least, here is my favorite photo. The sign sits at the East end of Galway Bay. Fair warning! |
A Glimpse of Dublin |
Across the street from the College is a shopping area where you will find many appealing treasures to remind you of your trip. I think the best is Kilkenney’s, which features many Irish artisans. Their prices seemed very reasonable. And, if you’re looking for a place for a quick bite of lunch, Kilkenney’s has both a Cafe and a Cafeteria on its mezzanine. Both have very good sandwiches, soup and the like, for very reasonable prices. |
