Henry Lavering Will

Bedford County, Pennsylvania - 1809

In the name of God amen, Know all men by here foreunto that I Henry Lavering of Bedford County in the State of Pennsylvania, Blacksmith, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks to Almighty God for the same, do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following, Viz, after paying my just debts and funeral charges it is my will and desire that my beloved wife, Ann Lavering, shall during her life have all and every part of my household, furniture, beds and bedding, Chests and drawers, Clocks and Chairs together with the hardware and furniture of every kind, and whatever else appertaining thereunto that I now possess also it is my will that my beloved wife shall during life draw the interest annually and every year of L110..15..00 in the hands of Christopher Brewer (?), also it is my will that my beloved wife shall draw the rents of all my lands, as I now draw them, and shall have all the youse (sic) or previlige (sic) of the House and Springhouse and Seller (sic) and other out buildings as I now enjoy. Item, Also she shall have her choise (sic) of two cows and 3 sheep out of my stocks of cattle and sheep. Also it is my will and desire that my son William shall have 300 acres of land with allowance of ? percent of the place on which I now live on the East side up to the mountain and so along the line as far as will be nesessery (sic) to include the above number of acres and shall possess it as his own after his mother decease, provided he shall cut and hall (sic) to the door a sofisiant (sic) quantity of firewood to serve her purpose during her life. Also it is my will and desire that after the decease of my beloved wife all the movable property and household furniture, stock and whatever may remain together with my lands (excepting as above to my son William) shall be sold at public vandue (sic) and including debts due on notes or bonds to be equally divided between my dutifull children and their hairs (sic) that is to say Margaret, Daniel, Elizabeth, John, Mary, Ann, Aholibama and Rebecca to receive and share equally alike. Also it is my will that Margaret Howell (?) shall if she stays her time out have and be paid by my Executors 30 dollars beside good freedom clothes. Farther it is my will and desire that my affectionate sons Daniel and William Lavering shall erect a good post and rail fence round the Grave yard and shall have the consideration of tenn dollars paid them out of my estate or as much as it shall cost, William finding the timber. In confirmation of all the aforesaid presents I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal this 18th day of October in the year of our Lord 1809. And I doo hereby appoint my two trusty sons Daniel and William Lavering my joint and sole executors.
