In the early 1860's it was not required that marriages be recorded in the Court House. Ministers and J.P.s did not do so in most cases. The earliest marriages found in the Boulder County Court House were Roblusan-Wooten dated June 27, 1864 and Cochran--Rannels dated July 21, 1864.

On February 9, 1932 the Boulder County Court House burned and it is possible some of the slips of paper recording marriages were lost.

Book E is the earliest book found containing marriages in the Court House. It includes Grantor and Grantee information plus marriages. Book J contains only marriages. Book A is the early index of Marriage Certificates.

In researching to find your ancestor during this period of history, remember PHONETICS. The sound of the name by which ever nationality, was written as it sounded, first by the Minister or J.P. and repeated by the County Clerk.

Without the help and assistance of the County Clerk and Recorder office personnel this volumn would not have been possible.
