Patricia Ann Clement and Thomas Henry Sebring

Thomas Henry5 Sebring (Edna Mae4 Farr, Francis Edward3, Edward Henry2 Wildey, Thomas1) was born in Syracuse but grew up in Rochester during the depression. At Charlotte High School his extra curricular activities included serving as an assistant air raid warden, watching the skies for German aircraft coming to attack Charlotte. He also sold war bonds as part of his duties as a paper boy.

Tom was the first person in his family to attend college, graduating with a degree in Economics from Columbia College in New York City. Soon after he was drafted into the US Army, where he attended Officer Candidate School as well as Airborne and Jumpmaster training. He then served in the Korean war with the 461st infantry battalion (heavy mortar) as a forward observer. The unit participated in a number of major battles, including Triangle Hill, Old Baldy, Sniper Ridge, and Pukhan River. It received the Presidential Unit Citation for valorous action when overrun by the Chinese in June 1953.

After the war Tom married Patricia Ann Clement at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Irondequoit. They had been high school classmates. Pat was born in Rochester, the daughter of Russell Louis Clement and Mary Lofland Miller. During high school she worked after school for the Hawkeye division of Eastman Kodak, inspecting Norden bomb sights used in nightime bombing during WWII. She later received training at the Rochester Business Institute as a medical secretary. She subsequently held a series of jobs at the Veteran's administration outpatient clinic, an Air Force recruiting station for two years, the Naval Ordinance department at Eastman Kodak, and the Navy Audit office.

After their marriage, Tom took advantage of the GI bill to earn a degree in Business Administration, majoring in industrial management, from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business in 1955. He took a job in the GE employee relations program and remained with the company the rest of his career.

Patricia Ann Clement and Thomas Henry Sebring have the following children:

ii. Thomas Henry Sebring, Jr. holds a BA in English and Environmental Science from Eastern College and an MA in Environmental Education from Beaver College. He currently works as a Microsoft Access developer. Tom belongs to the Landsdowne Church, a small home-based church, and enjoys playing the guitar.
iii. Timothy Carlisle Sebring studied Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, where he belonged the the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He has worked at a variety of restaurants in Pittsburgh as head chef, restaurant manager, and bartender. (His white chocolate mousse was especially popular with patrons). Tim is currently co-owner of the Warsaw Tavern, a neighborhood pub located at 1054 Heron Ave. in the Polish Hill area. Like his grandfather Russ Clement, he loves to fix things--cars, houses, plumbing, and anything else that may need repair.
