MRS. FRANCIS M. McDONNELL

Cass County Democrat, 11 October 1917.

Mrs. Mary Brown McDonnell, was born at Belle Point, Ohio, on September 2, 1836, and died at the family home in Austin, Mo., Thursday, October 4, 1917. She united with the Christian Church in her early youth, and was married to Francis M. McDonnell, December 9, 1858. Eleven children were born to their union, six of whom preceded their mother to the Better World. Her husband and five children survive to mourn her loss. The names of her children follow: Joshua R. McDonnell of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Joda E. Elder of Ekalaka, Mont.; Mrs. Agnes B. Burt of Campbell, Nebr.; Mrs. Fannie E. Wineburger of Corozal, Canal Zone, and Roland F. McDonnell of Beebe, Mont. Four brothers and two sisters also survive. They are: William Brown of Harrisonville, Mo.; Wilson Brown of Oklahoma; John and Lige Brown of Ohio; Mrs. Corier of Oklahoma, and Mrs. Hinton of Ohio.

Mrs. McDonnell raised a large family to manhood and womanhood, and in her old age was ministering to the wants of an afflicted husband. Her life tasks have been well and and nobly done, and we may confidently claim for her the guerdon promised to the good and faithful servant. She was a good woman, a warm friend, a faithful wife, a tender mother. Now, after life's faithful work is over, she has passed away from affliction and care through the dim portal of Death. Another soul has been born in eternity.
