Introduction

Have you ever wondered whether there really was a BLACKADDER family embroiled in British history throughout the ages?
Have you recently found a family connection to the name of BLACKADDER?

From the web pages here you can learn about everything that REALLY was BLACKADDER. There is no fiction here.

For privacy reasons, we intentionally do not publish materials for people born within the last ~100 years. If there are pages here for living family members, it is purely accidental and the WEBMASTER would appreciate being informed.

This website is intended for those people researching the name BLACKADDER and the many spelling variants. We will attempt to grow a database containing as much information as possible on the various BLACKADDER lineages. The intent is to provide a readily accessible publication where BLACKADDER researchers can:

 learn general information about the family heritage,

 study the various lineages,

 learn of research source materials (be they general, or more specific),

 and more.

The research is not necessarily limited to people. For example, did you know:

  1. there was a 971-ton London-built iron clipper ship that bore the name of BLACKADDER?
  2. that in Berwickshire, Scotland, there is a River BLACKADDER running by the village of BLACKADDER?
          Now why did they name the River that? Decide for yourself.
  3. that in Greenlaw, Berwickshire, Scotland, there is a BLACKADDER Crescent by the Blackadder Water?
  4. that offshore from Belize there is a BLACKADORE Caye located about 5 miles west of Ambergris Caye?
  5. as of 10 July 2001, you can buy land on Blackadore Caye....see the advertisement for details;
  6. that there is a BLACKADORE Avenue located in Pittsburgh?
  7. that's not all, there is a BLACKADDER Creek in Western Australia

Here you can learn about:

  1. world localities where the BLACKADDER family migrated;
  2. important events that involved a BLACKADDER (or descendent);
  3. list of things to go in here

  3. transcriptions of wills, testaments and sasines connected to certain ancestors

We are always appreciative of other ideas or contributions for new themes to go into these pages.

FOR EXAMPLE: Should we start up a "Family of the month" research campaign? Email the WEBMASTER with your thoughts.
