3. Peter AIRHART (George EARHART) was born on 18 Jan 1781 in Augusta County, Virginia.6 He married Elizabeth FULWIDER, daughter of John FULWIDER and Elizabeth HULL. He died on 16 Mar 1857 in Indiana at age 76.7 He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.8,9 They moved to Montgomery County, Indiana in 1834. He may have died in February 1857.

Eva AIRHART (Christian EARHART, George)14,15,16,17 was born on 7 Apr 1793 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.18,19,20 She married Christian LOOP Jr., son of Philip LUPP and Catherine _____, on 11 May 1810 in Augusta County, Virginia.21,22 She died on 28 Sep 1866 in Montgomery County, Indiana, at age 73.23,24 She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.25,26,27

Christian LOOP Jr28,29 was born on 17 Nov 1788 in Rockingham County, Virginia.30,31,32 He died on 20 Sep 1879 in Beckville, Montgomery County, Indiana, at age 90.33,34,35 He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.36,37 While in Augusta County, Virginia they were members of St. John's German Reformed and Lutheran Church. In about 1834 they moved to the western edge of Boone County, Indiana, near Montgomery county. The trip from Virginia was by horse and wagon through wilderness and took four weeks. The Airharts migrated with the Loops. Five of the girls walked the entire trip. (One history says that Christian had a sister, Catherine, who accompanied him and Eva on the move and that he had two brothers, Phillip and Jacob, and some sisters who remained in Virginia.) The nearest mill was ten miles away, on the Cox River. One account of those days in nearby Montgomery County says that 'many of the farmers took their wheat to Chicago to market. The pioneers here lived in log houses, wore clothes made of flax and wool, raised on their farms, and woven, cut and made by the wives and daughters, and their food was of home production, varied by game from the forest.' In 1855 the Loops sold the Boone County farm and bought a farm near Beckville, in Walnut Township, Montgomery County, Indiana. He owned 220 acres when he died. He did all his business in German, although he could write his name in English. He was a life-long Democrat. Both belonged to the German Lutheran church.38,39

11. Catherine AIRHART (Peter, George EARHART) was born on 5 May 1805. She married Henry BOWMAN on 6 Dec 1821 in Virginia. She died on 16 Sep 1842 at age 37. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.44 One source gives 23 Dec 1805 as her birth date. Another source gives 23 Dec 1812 as her birth date, gives 22 Mar 1864 as her death date, and states that she was unmarried. Another source gives 2 May 1805 as her birth date and 6 Sep 1842 as her death date.

Henry BOWMAN was born on 3 Sep 1797 in Pennsylvania. He died on 19 May 1863 in Indiana at age 65. He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.45 They moved to Jefferson Township, Boone County, Indiana in 1832. One source gives 19 Mar 1869 as his death date.

12. David AIRHART (Peter, George EARHART) was born on 10 Sep 1807 in Virginia. He married Nancy BOWMAN on 1 Aug 1833 in Montgomery County, Indiana.47 He died in 1888. In 1860 he and his wife were living in Boone County, Indiana.

Nancy BOWMAN was born in 1810 in Virginia. She died on 6 Jan 1865. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.48

John AIRHART (Peter, George EARHART) was born on 24 Aug 1814 in Virginia.51 He married Catherine LOOP, daughter of Christian LOOP Jr. and Eva AIRHART, on 7 Jan 1841 in Jefferson Township, Montgomery County, Indiana.52,53 He died on 30 Jan 1904 at age 89. He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.54 He arrived in Jefferson Township on 6 Oct 1834 and lived on the same farm from 1842 until at least 1887. From Early Life and Times in Boone County, Indiana (1887): "He drove a team from Virginia, and on arriving here found but little to encourage him. Their neighbors were few and far between, but those few were social in the extreme. Some of his happiest days were spent in his 'cabin' home in the woods. Mr. Airhart is a good citizen and enjoys the confidence of his neighbors." He was tall and had dark hair and a dark complexion.55

Catherine LOOP56,57 was born on 13 Aug 1823. She died on 8 Nov 1902 at age 79. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.58 She was a member of the Christian Church.59

17. Elizabeth AIRHART (Peter, George EARHART) was born on 31 May 1818. She married Andrew LOOP, son of Christian LOOP Jr. and Eva AIRHART, on 27 Dec 1837. She died on 8 Feb 1841 at age 22. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.67 One source gives her birth date as 3 May 1818. Her grave has two markers; the older one gives 8 Feb 1841 as her death date, and the newer one gives 5 Feb 1841. She and three of her sisters walked to Indiana from Virginia, more than 600 miles.

Andrew LOOP68 was born on 24 Mar 1816 in Augusta County, Virginia.69 He married Harriet B. FARLOW, daughter of William FARLOW and Elizabeth MILLER, on 3 Apr 1842 in Montgomery County, Indiana.70 He married Lydia WHEAT on 27 May 1852 in Montgomery County, Indiana.71 He died on 15 Oct 1910 in Montgomery County, Indiana (near Mace), at age 94. He came from Virginia to Boone County, Indiana with his parents in 1834, at age 18. At age 21 he worked one year for his father, then bought 160 acres of land. By 1881 he owned 384 acres, which he farmed, and lived in Mace, Indiana. He also owned 1000 acres in Iowa as a young man. A life-long democrat, he was constable as a young man, member of the county board of supervisors for two years, justice of the peace for over eight years, treasurer of the Horse Thief Detective Association for many years, and township trustee two terms. He was an elder of the Presbyterian church at Union, two miles east of Mace, but she was a Methodist. He acted as administrator of different estates, which fact, it was said, 'proved that the integrity and conscientiousness of his life in the community led the people to accord him respect and confidence.' The date of his marriage to Elizabeth may have been 27 Dec 1832.

21. Henry AIRHART (Peter, George EARHART)73,74,75,76 was born on 5 Oct 1825 in Augusta County, Virginia.77,78 He married Rhody M. BECK on 5 Apr 1846 in Montgomery County, Indiana.79,80,81 He married Mary Magdalena GOLLADAY, daughter of Jonathan GOLLADAY and Mary WHERELEY, on 8 Jan 1856 in Augusta County, Virginia.82,83 He died in 1894 in Jackson Township, Boone County, Indiana.84 From Early Life and Times in Boone County, Indiana (1887): "Henry came to Jackson Township, Boone County, in the fall of 1834, where he has ever since resided, and where he owns a fine farm and enjoys the confidence of the people he has so long lived among. He has served three terms as Township Trustee, to the entire satisfaction of the people. By trade he is a carpenter, but by choice has spent most of his time on the farm. . . . Henry Airhart belongs to the Baptist Church and is a stanch Democrat, first, last, and all the time." He and Rhoda had one child.85

Rhody M. BECK died on 15 Jan 1850 in Jackson Township, Boone County, Indiana.86,87 She was buried in Jackson Township, Boone County, Indiana.88

Mary Magdalena GOLLADAY96,97 was born on 23 May 1836 in Augusta County, Virginia (on Walkers Creek).98 She died in 1912 in Jackson Township, Boone County, Indiana.99 She was buried in Jackson Township, Boone County, Indiana.100 Walkers Creek (in Augusta County, Virginia), on which she was born, was renamed McKinley Creek about 1897.101

22. Jacob AIRHART (Peter, George EARHART) was born on 5 Apr 1828. He married Mary M. ('Polly') BOWMAN on 10 Oct 1849. He married Mary Jane GILL on 10 Dec 1868. He died on 26 Apr 1888 at age 60. He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.148 One source gives his birth date as 5 Apr 1821.

Mary M. ('Polly') BOWMAN was born on 11 Feb 1829. She died on 15 Apr 1865 at age 36. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.149

26. Sarah ('Sallie') LOOP (Eva AIRHART, Christian EARHART, George) was born on 7 Jan 1813 in Augusta County, Virginia. She married Anthony BECK. She married John BOWMAN on 29 Mar 1828 in Virginia.155 She died on 8 May 1892 in Indiana at age 79. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.156 They lived in Iowa.157

John BOWMAN was born on 9 Apr 1808 in Virginia. He died on 18 Apr 1866 at age 58. He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.158 One source gives his birth date as 4 April 1805.

Andrew LOOP (Eva AIRHART, Christian EARHART, George)160 was born on 24 Mar 1816 in Augusta County, Virginia.161 He married Elizabeth AIRHART, daughter of Peter AIRHART and Elizabeth FULWIDER, on 27 Dec 1837. He married Harriet B. 29. David LOOP (Eva AIRHART, Christian EARHART, George)167 was born on 4 Feb 1818 in Augusta County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth ('Peggy') _____. He died on 23 Feb 1889 at age 71. He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.168 He was a farmer in Montgomery County, Indiana. The grave marker identifies his wife as Peggy LOOP, whose marker says she died on 3 Dec 1875 at age 58 years, 8 months, 18 days, suggesting her birthdate to be 16 Mar 1817. Death records of Montgomery County indicate he married an Airhart. The 1850 census for Boone County, Indiana suggests his wife then was Elizabeth, born about 1817-1818 in Virginia.

Elizabeth ('Peggy') _____ was born on 16 Mar 1817. She died on 3 Dec 1875 at age 58. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.169

30. Catherine LOOP (Eva AIRHART, Christian EARHART, George)172,173 was born on 13 Aug 1823. She married John AIRHART, son of Peter AIRHART and Elizabeth FULWIDER, on 7 Jan 1841 in Jefferson Township, Montgomery County, Indiana.174,175 She died on 8 Nov 1902 at age 79. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.176 She was a member of the Christian Church.177

SIMMONS Jr., son of John SIMMONS and Elizabeth FARLOW, on 25 Dec 1842 in Boone Township, Montgomery County, Indiana.182 She died on 20 Jan 1854 in Boone County, Indiana.183 She was buried in Upper Mount Zion Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.184 They lived in Missouri.

John N. SIMMONS Jr185,186 was born in 1823 in Indiana.187 He was probably born in Rush County, Indiana and died after 1882, probably in Cowley County, Kansas.188

32. Polly LOOP (Eva AIRHART, Christian EARHART, George)203 was born on 15 Mar 1831 in Augusta County, Virginia. She married Jacob K. FALL on 13 Jan 1869. She died on 21 Feb 1896 at age 64. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.204 She lived with her brother, Andrew, for many years.

Jacob K. FALL was born in Indiana. He died in Oct 1879. He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.205 There is some question whether his parents were David and Anna Fall.

James G. JOHNSON was born on 1 Sep 1837 in Butler County, Ohio. From History of Montgomery County (1881), pp. 392-393: "James G. Johnson, merchant, Mace, was born September 1, 1837, in Butler county, Ohio, and is the son of Jesse R. and Mary (Wheat) Johnson. . . . [He] spent his youth in the town school at Westchester, Ohio, till seventeen years old. He came with his parents to Walnut township in 1855 and followed the plow till about 1877, when he engaged in merchandising in Fredericksburg, and also in loaning money to some extent. He still [1881] sells a general line of goods in Mace and does a fair trade. Mr. Johnson is quite a prominent democrat. He has been township trustee and assessor, and represented Montgomery county in the legislature in the regular and special sessions of 1869. He again made the race in 1874, but was beaten . . . . He has been clerk in the Presbyterian church, also elder. . . . Mrs. Johnson is also a Presbyterian."208

64. Nancy BOWMAN (Sarah LOOP, Eva AIRHART, Christian EARHART, George) was born on 4 May 1824 in Virginia. She married Durham BECK on 6 Apr 1843. She died on 12 Apr 1852 at age 27. She was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.209 She may have been born in 1829.

Durham BECK was born on 15 Jun 1821. He died on 4 Feb 1855 at age 33. He was buried in Providence Cemetery, Montgomery County, Indiana.210

Children of Nancy BOWMAN and Durham BECK were:

75. William C. LOOP (Andrew, Eva AIRHART, Christian EARHART, George) was born on 17 Jan 1855 in Walnut Township, Montgomery County, Indiana. He married Euphemia DICE, daughter of Christopher DICE, on 3 Jan 1877. He died in 1946. He was raised in Walnut Township, Montgomery County, Indiana, attended Wabash College for two years, and farmed and raised cattle and hogs the rest of his life. He helped organize and was a director of the Crawfordsville State Bank, was vice-president of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Montgomery County, was a member of the Montgomery County Fair Board, and belonged to the Horse Thief Detective Association. In 1913 he owned a 480-acre farm in Walnut Township. He was a Democrat and a member of the township advisory board. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Knights of Pythias. He and Virginia were twins.

Euphemia DICE was born on 5 Jul 1856. She died in Nov 1925 at age 69.

George Washington KING218,219 was born on 9 Nov 1849 in Alabama or Tennessee.220 He died on 24 Nov 1910 in Locker, San Saba County, Texas, at age 61.221 He was buried in Locker, San Saba County, Texas.222
