Jean Joseph BALZA was born October 30th, 1804 in Sauveniere, Namur, Belgium, the son of  Jean Joseph BALZA Sr. and Marie Theresa BRABANT.

Virginie BERO was born October 26th, 1807 in Sart-Walhain, Namur, Belgium, the daughter of Jean Jacques BERO and Anne Marie Giliane GHENNE.

Jean Joseph Balza married Virginie Bero on the 23rd of January, 1831 in the church at Walhain St. Paul. Together they were blessed with eight children:

• Felicien Joseph, born July 7th, 1831 in Sart-Walhain, married Marie Josephe PINCHART on April 15th, 1863 in Tourinnes St. Lambert.
• Leopold Joseph, born 30 June, 1833 in Sart-Walhain, died 28 July, 1909 in Sart-Walhain,  married Catherine DELMARCELLE on February 7th, 1866 in Sart-Walhain
• Jacques Joseph, born September 17th, 1835 in Sart-Walhian, died November 11th, 1881 in Sart-Walhain, married Charlotte BERGER who died in childbirth December 11th, 1877
• Joachim Joseph, born February 6th, 1837 in Sart-Walhain.
• Sidonie Josephe, born September 21st, 1839 in Sart-Walhain, married Gregoire MATHIEU born in Gembloux, on June 21st, 1869 in Sart-Walhain
• Louis, born August 25th, 1841 in Sart-Walhain, died June 20,1843 in Sart Walhain.
• Jean Baptiste, born March 10th, 1844 in Sart-Walhain, died February 24th, 1870 in Sart-Walhain.
• Antoine, born August 13th, 1845 in Sart-Walhain, married Marie Antionette FLAHAUT born February 19th, 1845 in Sart-Walhain on August 28th, 1867 in Sart-Walhain Antoine and Antoinette had 10 children (Antoine Balza Family History).

BALZA Ancestry 

The surname BALZA is a derivation (Belzer, Balzac, Balzer, etc.) of  the ancient name "BALTHAZAR" (one of the three wise men).  The country of origin for this Balza family is Belgium more specifically Sart-Walhain in Namur Province where we've traced our earliest known ancestors.  At this time the earliest known family group with the Balza surname is Jean Joseph BALZA who married Marie Therese BRABANT.  Very little is known about this family - it is still a subject for on-going research (Jean Joseph Balza Sr. Family History). They had at least one son Jean Joseph Balza (1804 - 1889) who married Virginie BERO (1807 - 1872) described above.

BERO Ancestry 

The BERO surname appears to originates in the townships of Chaumont-Gistoux, Brabant Province , Belgium.  The earliest known BERO ancestor is Simon BERO (~1600 - ?) who first married Marie TROGNEE and had four children.  Marie died in 1634 and Simon then married Marguerite MAROTTE (Simon Bero Family History) and had one child Simon BERO Jr (1638 - ?).  Simon married Antoinette STACQUET and they had two children (Simon Bero Jr. Family History). Their second child was Jacques (Charles) BERO  (1698 - 1741) who married Marie Therese MAUCLET  (1705 -1785) and they had eight children (Jacques Charles Bero Family History). Their first child Gregoire Bavon BERO (1700 - 1751) married Marie Jeanne DE ROUSART (1702 - 1771) and the couple had nine children (Gregoire Bavon Bero Family History).  Their second child Pierre Jacques BERO (1732 - 1796) married (his aunt) Marie Jeanne BERO (1733 - 1793) and they had 13 children (Pierre Jacques Bero Family History).  The second child of Pierre and Marie was Jean Jacques BERO (1774 - ?) who married Ann Marie Gilaine GHENNE (1777 - 1863) and had three children (Jean Jacques Bero Family History) the third of which was Virginie BERO who married Jean Joseph BALZA described above.

GHENNE Ancestry
