Dr. Baily Dead

Jesse Sydenham Baily, son of Joseph S. and Phebe Winder Baily, was born April 17, 1872 in Freeport, Ohio; married October 27, 1897 at Indianapolis, Indiana to Pauline Osborn. Departed this life Tuesday, October 13, 1914.

Dr. Baily was a life-long member of the Friends church and in early manhood prepared himself for the practice of dentistry and follow(ed) his chosen profession as closely as health would permit until one month ago.

The early years of his professional career were spent in the east near the scenes of his boyhood.

About fourteen years ago he arrived in Denver and a year later came to Silverton, where he remained until the time of his death. He came to Colorado for his health and during his residence here death had always been hovering near. This fact he knew and it was impossible for him to attend to his business affairs as he would have liked. Under the circumstances, he did remarkably well. He did the best he could. His fight for life and strength was admirable and should be an example to his more robust associates and acquaintances, who in good health lament their lot and give up in despair.

His life among us has been a daily testimonial to his character, and while ill health marred many of his plans, his great will enabled him to live a life that revealed a manly man, a loving husband and an exemplary citizen.

He had been a member of the Masonic order for eight years, being elected Master of the order here the first of the year.

To mourn his departure from this earth, he leaves here in Silverton a wife, Mrs. J.S. Baily, and one son, Sydenham.

Thursday afternoon services were held at the Baily residence on south Reese street, conducted by Rev. R.C. Byers.

Friday morning the Masonic order accompanied the remains to the depot where shipment was made to Spiceland, Indiana, his boyhood home.
