Harriet Elizabeth Jeter was the 4th child and 2nd daughter of William Griffin and Elizabeth McCutchen Berry, born 11/25/1838 on the family farm located between Petersburg and Atterbury in Menard County, Illinois.  She was married to Zachariah Nance Goldsby, a native of Green Co., KY on 3/24/1857 in Menard Co., IL, the Rev. A. H. Goodpasture officiating. They had the following issue; Mary Luella (1857-1924), Emma Frances (1859-1863), Elizabeth Caroline (1861-1863) and William James (1865-1865).

Mary Luella ("Lulu") married William H. Cloud in Chillicothe, MO on 11/09/1874 with issue: Scott Goldsby (1876-1937), Archibald Jeter (1878-1957) and William Frederick (1880-1889).

Z. N. and Harriet Goldsby removed first in 1859  to Livingston Co., MO to join the Jeter family already there.  Zack then established an office for the practice of law, interrupted by service from 1862 to 1865 with the 12th Regiment of Missouri Cavalry in the Civil War.

In 1875 the family moved to Virginia City, Nevada, and then in 1877, along with their daughter Lulu and her husband Wm. Cloud, in addition to Wm. T. Jeter, went to Santa Cruz, CA, where Lulu's son Archie was born in 1878. They stayed there until abt.1894 or 1895 when Zach moved his law practice to Oakland where he had an office at least through 1906 when the Oakland city Directory lists him practicing law with his grandson Archie Cloud. Lulu is buried in Santa Cruz and they may have settled there from Oakland.

Harriet passed away 9/10/1897 and Zack on 6/27/1925.  (The place of death and burial may be in Oakland for Harriet and Santa Cruz, California for Zack, but details are not yet established.)
