Hi, I am looking for the MAGUIRE family of Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo. Sean Maguire married a daughter of the MURPHY family. The other Murphy daughter married Richard LUBY. The Murphy parents divided their farm, giving 1/2 to each daughter. Sean Maguire had a son named John Maguire who married Mary DUGGAN. These are my great grandparents. My grandmother Margaret (Maggie), was one of four children from this marriage. Her brothers were Bernard (Brian), Walter, and her sister was MaryAnn. My grandmother was born in 1892 in Gurteen, Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo. She came to the USA between 1909 - 1912. She told us of going to school in Cloonfad, which i am unable to locate, It may be in Co Roscommon. Her birth was recorded in Roscommon also, which makes this confusing, as the farm is in Ballihaunis, Co Mayo. Is there any connections here to any Maguire historys? If so, Please e-mail me at [email protected]. thanks in advance
Hi: I spend my winters in Florida and summers in Ontario, Canada. I am only on the net when in Florida at [email protected] and would like to hear from all searching Maguire'S. Please contact me in Florida during November to the end of March. I shall keep this address while away and have provided for all messages to await me on my return. My summer residence in Ontario is on an island with no phone or electricity, great spot. I can be reached by mail at this location: Mr. Francis G. Maguire P.O. Box 93 Temagami On. Poh 2H0 Canada Mr gr.gr. grandfather Adam MAGUIRE was from Enniskellen (born about May 10 1811) and had brothers William, Jeremiah, John and a sister Margaret. There may have been more children. Adam may have arrived in Ontario about 1833 in Manvers Township, Durham County. In these early years the township was just developing and people were settling there. In 1833 only 33 family's are listed in Manvers Township. At this time an older William MAGUIRE is listed and I risking an assumption believe this William to be the father of my Adam and the others. My records have him as age 60 (next May) in the 1851 Census and a birth of May 10 circa. 1791 in Ireland. This 1851 Census indicated a wife Mary, born June 4 circa. 1801 in Ireland. I have a date of marriage of 1842 which is after arriving in Canada. As he is 51 and she 41 this could be a second marriage for both. As Adam was born circa 1811 and if the William is his father than of course he was married before and this would have been in Ireland. I plan to go to Ireland early next summer and hope accurate ties for my ancestors can be established for my visit. Any assistance you or others could provide is greatly appreciated.

For McGuire Researchers: I am looking for information about my grandfather's MCGUIRE family. His name was Joseph Albert McGuire (b.1913 in Baltimore, MD area). His father was Edgar MCGUIRE (b.1880's in Baltimore, MD area) and his mother was Lillian. My great grandfather left my great grandmother when my grandfather was only 2 years old (in 1915) and maintained infrequent contact until he died in the 1950's or 60's. He may have had at least one brother in the Baltimore area. That is all I know at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am traveling to Ireland in 2 months and am trying to discover Edgar McGuire's father's name who was supposedly born in Ireland.
