My great grandfather was James Francis MAGUIRE. He was born in Gazzaville (also known as Gazzy or Gazza)on 12/13/1859. This was part of Burillville (also described as part of Providence in one document I have). His parents were John MAGUIRE and Sarah GRUMLEY (on some documents, it appears as GUIMLEY). John probably worked at the Whipple Mill in Gazzavile when James was born. James had a brother, George MAGUIRE (also the son of John & Sarah) who was born in 1868 in Slatersville, RI or N. Smithfield, RI. John and his son George both died in Uxbridge, MA. Sarah died in New London, CT and James died and is burried in Danielson, CT. I have not been successful in finding where John and Sarah were maried or when they immigrated to this country. John was 58 when he died on March 11, 1889, which would indicate that he was born around 1831. His gravestone says he came from County Fermanaugh. I have looked at some immigration records but there were many John Maguires who came to this country in the 1850s when I assume he came. I haven't started on the Rhode Island Cesus records yet. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Sincerely, Patricia L. Schwarm (Pat)

John married Lydia REEVES in or around Carter County Ky. They had seven children. On Watt SERGENT(1870-1931) married Mary HALL (1877-1969). Mary's father George married Maragret MCGUIRE. This is all the information I have on these families. I hope someone can help me fill in the blanks. Thanks
My name is Felix MAGUIRE I am a retired catholic priest, 72 years old. My grandfather, Charles Maguire migrated to Connecticut in about 1850. I can get exact dates about that. When he migrated to Meriden Connecticut he met and married Catherine HEHIR who was originally from another part of Ireland. They had four children: my father John Patrick Maguire and his brother Charles Maguire who eventually moved to the Rhode Island area where he worked in the Navy Yard. My Father died very young (55) however the rest of his family died in their 80+. One aunt, Mary (May Maguire) died in Meriden CT at age 100. May was married and had three sons: her oldest son John HECKLER married Margaret O'SHAUNESSY who was Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Ronald Reagan. (she had served as Congresswoman from the Boston area.) After she left that job she was ambassadors to Ireland during Ronald Reagan's last term. She had also a son Charles Hecker who lives in Florida. My father John had nine of which I am the second youngest. My youngest brother Vincent became a Franciscan and then studied Drama and graduated from Yale with a degree in theater. He taught English and Theater at St. Bonaventure University. He also ran for and was defeated in the run for Congress in New York State. My oldest brother, born Charles Maguire was born in 1915 in Meriden CT and became a Franciscan and eventually Provincial of their Eastern province. Charles in 82 and still working in Silver Spring Maryland helping in the parish. My second Oldest brother John was General Counsel and Vice President of General Dynamics (a major defense manufacturer) John had one son (and only Blood Maguire of our family) whom he called Peter. Peter was murdered about five years ago in St. Louis MO...is was a mugging for dope. In addition, I had a brother Henry who had three adopted children, two of them from I Ireland. I also had two sisters married to two brothers: Joseph and Thomas KEENA, both graduated from Yale, (Joseph also from Yale Law School). I had one sister Edna, married to a William MURRAY from New London CT. Most of our family died from smoking cigarets: Henry, Patricia, Gloria, Edna and Vincent. If you want to know more about our clan, I can fill you in but I do have a nephew: Anthony SCULLY who lives in Culver City CA and has really studied the genealogy of our side of Maguires. Incidentally, The Maguire in our family also came from Enniskillen in CO Fermanagh northern Ireland. Incidentally, my grandfather Charles had two brothers who migrated with him: Felix, who never married and after whom I am named and Bernard, called Barney. He also had a sister who married a CADDEN from CO Fermanagh before they immigrated to U.S.A. My grandfather Charles Maguire owned and operated a saloon/grocery store in Meriden. He retired and became a gentleman farmer in 1917 when this country adopted prohibition. Charles died in the late forties at age 86 and Felix in the early fifties at age 85. I would love to revisit Fermanaugh Co in the near future but thus far I have been afraid to do so. Love and cheers: Felix Maguire. If thine enemy wrong thee, buy each of his children a drum. Laugh of the day Love, Felix

Michael EGAN is listed as father on the birth certificate of my great-grandfather, Nathaniel S EGAN (born 1858 in Berks County, Pennsylvania). we do not think he married my great-great-grandmother, Maria Priscilla KAUFMAN. does anyone have info on a "Michael Egan" passing through Pennsylvania during this period?
I am married to Dean Maguire. His father's name was George Edward Maguire. George's parent's names were John and Louisa Maguire. That is as far back as I can go at this point. George lived at Brownton, MN. all of his life as far as I know. John and Louisa lived there also for a good share of their lives. George had two brothers, Alvin and Walter. He also had two sisters, Viola and Dorothy. Dorothy is still alive and I believe she lives somewhere in SD. My husband's family was not very close, so he knows very little about them. We would really like to find out more about the history. Oh yes, George married Anna Clara Mochinske who was born Oct. 12, 1918 and died Jan. 4, 1996. I would appreciate any help from anyone who knows more about these Minnesota Maguires. George was born Jan.6, 1910 and died in Oct. 1991. Thanks!!!
