In 1910, Amos DeHart lived on a farm in Alsace Township near Stony Creek mills, which was formerly the property of his father, John DeHart. In the HISTORY OF BERKS COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA, he is reported to be a remarkable man in many ways, and is well-preserved, being able to see easily without the aid of glasses. For a period of thirty years, he followed the grade of carpenter and millwright.
