Welcome to the Allshouse family page

This site is devoted to all those that bear the name Allshouse and related families, most of which have descended from Henry Allshouse I of Easton, PA. The purpose of this site is to be a central place to share the data on the family's history and descendants. This is an ongoing project and all are welcome to participate.

The History of the Allshouse family

Our ancestor Henry was a Palatine. He was one of many that fled religious persecution as part of the great Palatine migration. He was from Lorraine and traveled up the Rhine to Rotterdam. He boarded the ship Judith under the command of captian James Tait. The Judith landed in Philadelphia on September 15, 1748 and thus marked the arrival of the Allshouse family in America. In 1752 Henry moved north and became on of the original settlers of what is now Easton, PA. Henry was the town carpenter and was appointed as one of the trustees to build the town courthouse. Henry's death notice was found recorded in the "American Eagle" an Easton paper. He was buried in the cemetery at the First Reformed Church of Easton. This cemetery was removed and the bodies placed in a common vault in what is now the Easton cemetery.
