HOPKINS, Thomas (1830-1870)

Thomas Hopkins and wife Elizabeth Jaques were married in Misterton,
Nottinghamshire 8 Oct 1851 and sailed to America from Liverpool shortly
thereafter.  Name of ship and landing place unknown.  From 1851 to 1858 they
were somewhere in NY State, possibly with brothers Robert, Richard and
Francis.  During this time their first two children, Anna and Celina, were
born.

In 1858 they moved to Litchfield, Hillsdale Co, MI where Thomas filed
Naturalization application papers.  They lived there about 10 years,  during
which time Harriet, Mary Jane, Frank and Thomas Jr. were born.  They removed
to Butler Co, Nebraska about 1868-69, where they homesteaded.  Thomas died in
a hunting accident about 1870.

As the parents were illiterate, they left no written record of their early
years, and I am trying to find exactly when and where Anna and Celina were
born.  They arrived in NY  too late for the 1850 Census, and so far I have had
no luck with the 1855 NY State Census.  I have much information  I'll be happy
to share with anyone who is connected.
