I found six Hopkins listed in the on-line index of Starr's genealogy of
Old Cherokee families.  I know one of the names is a Daniel Hopkins who
married an Elizabeth Hair.

The index to this book is at http://members.aol.com/rarebk.   The site
also contains the 1835 Cherokee census on-line, as well as a Cherokee
genealogy tutorial that seems to provide great instruction on how to
research your Cherokee ancestry.  There are alot of other resources on
this rare book site as well.

Note: There is no www in the address.

Thanks,

Jimbo

Sharon,

I have successfully traced my husband's Cherokee Heritage back 3 generations
thus far. I have a website devoted to Cherokee Heritage that contains links
to many informational resources on how to do this. These links and some
information is contained within my site. Note: Many of the Cherokee Tribe
Eastern Band or Oklahoma where not on US Census rolls until much later.
There were and some still are, considered inferior 2nd class citizens.

At the time I did the research in my husband's line (he is 1/4 Cherokee) we
had no idea of who his grandmother's father was or where her mother was
born.

Hope this helps, Good hunting.
