been transcribed from photocopies of exceptionally clear original documents
found in the National Archives. Musters took place in encampments that
were chiefly located in the present state of Louisiana, which at that time
was the Territory of Orleans, however, other locations range as far as
Nashville (TN), Natchez (MS), San Antonio (TX) and Pensacola (FL). The
book includes transcriptions of 21 muster rolls and 5 payrolls; listings
of men who deserted, died, discharged, transferred or resigned; a bibliography

Author Annette Womack (l) donating a copy of her book to the Natchitoches
Genealogy Society. Representing the organization was Billie Gibson
(r) President and Diane Gunter, Corresponding Secretery.
The book gives the names and the muster roll dates of the men that
built Fort Claiborne at Natchitoches, Louisiana. The fort was originally
located just a block from the present-day "old courthouse" where the Natchitoches
Genealogy Society maintains a genealogical library.
