I have this day examined Lt. Col. Lake of this Regiment and find that his health is nearly restored; that there only remains a state of debility, which will probably soon yield to judicious treatment.
It is my opinion that he is able to perform all the duties of his position while here in camp; but that if we should be called upon within ten or fifteen days to march or perform active field service, he would not be able to perform his duty.
