Before a General Court Martial convened at Head Quarters 2nd Division 16th Army Corps February 25th 1865 per special Order No. 37 Head Quarters 2nd Division 16th A. C. dated February 23d 1865 and of which Col. R. W. Moore 117th Ill Vol Infty was President was arraigned and tried: Lieut Col. Jed Lake 27th Iowa Vols.

Charge 1st: Conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline
Charge 2nd: Absent without leave
Charge 3rd: Behaving himself with disrespect toward his superior and Commanding Officer
Charge 4th: Disobedience of the lawful command of his superior and Commanding Officer
Charge 5th: Mutiny
Charge 6th: Conduct unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman.

Findings:

Of the 1st Charge: Guilty
Of the 2nd Charge: Not Guilty
Of the 3rd Charge: Not Guilty
Of the 4th Charge: Not Guilty
Of the 5th Charge: Not Guilty
Of the 6th Charge: Not Guilty

Sentence: To be suspended from rank and pay for the period of two months.

The proceedings, findings and sentence are approved. During the suspension of Lieut. Col. Jed Lake will march and camp with his Regiment and will be confined to the camp limits of the 16th Army Corps. Time of suspension to commence from this date.
