To All whom it May Concern

Know ye, that Jed Lake, Lieut Colonel 27th Regiment Of Iowa Infantry Volunteers who was commissioned on the fourth day of September one thousand eight hundred and sixty two to serve three years or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this Eighth day of August, 1865, at Clinton, Iowa by reason of honorable transition out in compliance with G. O. 96 H. Q. Dept. of the Gulf Services 1865. No Objection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist.*

Said Jed Lake was born in La Pere in the State of New York, is 32 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, Dark complexion, Blue eyes, Brown hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a Lawyer.

Given at Clinton, Iowa, this Eighth day of August 1865.
