Field Trip: St. Louis, Missouri - Genealogical Visit

St. Louis, 2001

FIELD TRIP TO ST. LOUIS

"Field Trip to St. Louis" is a summary of two genealogy research visits, first in 1998, and more recently in June 2001.   Pre-trip preparations are detailed in "Planning Ahead", with an emphasis on using the Internet.   Summaries of the actual visits offer a bird's eye view of what areas I focused on and where I found information, including the libraries and facilities I visited.    A special section is devoted to the "Church of St. Louis IX, King of France", known more simply as "The Old Cathedral".

A special thank you to all of the people who assisted me, both in 1998 and 2001. First and foremost, to the family members who took time to meet with me. I really enjoyed visiting, sharing stories and photographs. Many thanks to the staffs at the St. Louis Genealogical Society, the St. Louis County Library, and the Kirkwood Historical Society for their help during my most recent visit. I also want to thank the many onliners who have helped me with various and sundry St. Louis topics since 1998. It is very much appreciated!

Like "Field Trip to Baltimore", the purpose of these pages is to share my experiences with the hope it will be helpful to others planning genealogical research. Your comments and suggestions are welcome.

NOTE: "Field Trip to St. Louis" has been expanded and revamped from its original 1998 format. Most of the pages have been completed. I am posting them as they are finished. Please check back from time to time.
