TROUT LAKE LINE - Trout Lake, which is situated near the base of Mount Adams, will be one of the finest pleasure resorts in the West if the plans of the Washington Electric Railway & Power Company are carried through to a successful conclusion. The company will build an electric line to Trout Lake, where it expects to establish a great resort. The road will run from the White Salmon landing to Trout Lake, a distance of 28 miles. Power for the road will be obtained from the White Salmon river, and water rights have already been secured. The company has purchased 160 acres of land at the site of the proposed power plants. From good authority it has been learned that the road has been financed by California capitalists, and that the work of construction will begin sometime in the fall. The road will be in operation by the summer of 1907, so as to accommodate the pleasure seekers. About $250,000 will be expended by the company. "We have had our surveyors in the field for some time and have secured most of the right of way," says Mr. Wood, of Portland. Mr. Wood is timekeeper for the Portland Railway Company. "Owing to certain provisions in the law in Washington we shall be unable to secure the franchises across the county for three months or more. We have part of our material contracted for, and as soon as we have secured the rights of way we shall purchase all of our material. We expect to begin construction work sometime in the fall.
