SITE PURCHASED FOR YOUTH HOME AT WHITE SALMON
WHITE SALMON, Wash., Apr. 18 - Establishment of a
state-approved home for boys came a step closer last week when the board
of trustees of the Columbia Boys Association, Inc., purchased a 65-acre farm
on Spring Creek, eight miles from White Salmon.
The project has been under consideration for some time
to handle boys who have been placed in custody of the welfare department.
The state will provide a part of the maintenance cost and the rest will be
raised by the sponsoring organization.
The first 12 boys will be received as soon as existing
buildings have been put in readiness. Boys will attend local schools. On
the board of trustees of the Columbia Boys group are Wallace Stevenson, Forest
Wallace, F.A. Finch, Dr. Wayne Henkle, Frank Daubenspeck, Joe Crowe and Al
Lermo.
