PIONEER MAIL CARRIER HEARD OVER THE AIR
Wyers Tells of Experiences In 49 Years of Mail Carrying

White Salmon's pioneer mail old carrier, Teunis Wyers, has been carrying a mail for 49 years, talked over the air Wednesday, of last week, from the KOIN studio in Portland and was heard over a network of stations.
"I rode the Pony Express" was the subject of the program sponsored by the Pacific Power & Light Co. and Northwestern Electric Co. Myers told of his experiences in the 49 years of carrying mail on horseback in the old days when he started on the old fashioned mail stages coaches, and on to modern days of automobiles stages.
He is today the oldest mail carrier in the United States, and now operates a fleet of mail stages out of White Salmon, serving Glenwood, Husum, Trout Lake and Snowden district. Next July Wyers will commence his 50th continuous year of mail service.
