GLENWOOD DEDICATES NEW H.S. BUILDING
(By Emma Kuhnhausen)
The dedication of the new high school building, which
marks another epoch in the history and progress of the Glenwood community,
took place at the school auditorium on May 15th. Large numbers attended,
and all were enthusiastic about the program rendered by Professor Kreager
of Pullman, and two junior music students, -- all of the State College.
The programme was opened by several favorite selections
by the youthful musicians. This was followed by a very interesting talk by
Professor Kreager, giving a full comparison between the colonial and the
present system of education. The audience were then again favored with a
few selections by the musicians, including such pieces as "The Last Rose
of Summer," "Loch Lomond," and "Annie Laurie."
After the delightful programme had ended, the audience
were served a dainty lunch, consisting of cake, sandwiches, and coffee, by
the high school students. The tables were very prettily draped in streamers
of orange and black, the effect of which was also carried out on the stage,
in the form of an eight-pointed star made of high school pennants and Oregon
grape.
During luncheon a very social hour was enjoyed, after
which the guests departed to their respective homes, all feeling very
enthusiastic about the rapid advancement that the high school has made, and
that they may now educate the children at their home.
