COUNTY DIVISION

     A hearing was to have been given the adherents of "Cook County" by the committee on counties last Monday evening, but no report of the result has been sent. The White Salmon delegation expected an even break. When work was begun on the House members the boys were, with few exceptions, told there was no show. But they kept right on and shortly the merits of the matter began to appeal to members and the prospects have been brighter. It is certain that Brooks cannot smother it in committee. Representative Pierce, author of Pierce's Code, Kitsap county member, is fathering the bill in the House.
