CLARK

Ray D. Clark was born May 23, 1885 in Yoncolla, Douglas
Co., Oregon, to James Gustavus Clark and Eliza Ann Huff. He had one brother,
Bert G. Clark, born in 1880 in Elkhead, Douglas Co., Oregon, and one sister,
Ora Bell Clark Elkin, who was born in 1887 in Dufur, Wasco Co., Oregon.
Ray's parents moved from Douglas Co., Oregon to Ashwood,
Crook Co., Oregon in the 1890's after their home burned. They lived in Ashwood
until 1918 when Ray and his parents moved to Trout Lake, Klickitat Co.
Washington. Ray and his brother Bert were freighters. They used horse teams
and hauled freight.
Ray married Ethel Ellen Garrett, May 8, 1908 in Ashwood,
Oregon. They had one child, Evelyn Clark Gerardo, who was born in 1911. Ray
and Ethel divorced around 1917.
James Clark and his sons, Bert and Ray, built the road
from Ashwood to Madras.
Ray married his second wife, Florence Mae Marshall, on
August 29, 1927, in Hood River, Oregon. Ray and Florence had 3 children:
David Roscoe Clark, born 1928; Donald, born 1930; and Marguerite, born
1934.
Ray was a farmer in the Trout Lake valley for a number
of years. In 1943 Ray and his family moved to Rainier, Columbia Co., Oregon,
where they farmed.
Ray Clark, his wife Florence, and his parents, are buried
in Trout Lake Cemetery. Ray died February 8, 1967 in Vancouver, Washington.
