CHAS. R. SPENCER
Chas. R. Spencer will make good in the legislature. He is a good business man. He is tied to no special interests. He is a large property holder in the county. He ran an independent boat on the river and is well known for his accommodations. He has contributed large sums for the development of Western Klickitat county and his home town. He is president of the First National Bank, also president of the Commercial Club. There is no worthy enterprise that cannot receive his encouragement. He is free from political entanglements. He would not be out of harmony with the majority party in the legislature. He approved measures demanded by the Grange, and has the hearty approval of the local Grange. He stands for a majority rule and favors the Local Option measure. Chas. Spencer is square, fights right out in the open, and will stick for what the people want. He is not as subtle as the serpent, for he is young and has not learned the ways of the skilled politician. He could not, for instance, shed crocodile tears over fancied increases of taxes in one part of the county and help impose burdensome taxes on a few in another part of the county, as his opponent does, for he is not built that way. The Enterprise would like to see every friend of Spencer turn out and do missionary work for him on election day.
