COUNTY DIVISION BILL IS SETTLED
A special wire from Olympia this morning, as well as
a telephone call from D. Ledbetter, who is in Portland today, expecting to
return tomorrow with John Coffield, practically settles the County division
matter at this time. Mr. Ledbetter says the bill is in the house committee
on lines and boundaries, who have assured the Goldendale delegation that
it will not be brought up at this session, no report to be made. The delegation
have left N.B. Brooks and Charles Kayser in Olympia to remain until the close
of the session, which occurs tonight, the balance returning to this city
this afternoon and tomorrow. Good work was done by our delegation, and but
for their timely assistance together with the work of Representative Hornibrook
and others interested in maintaining Klickitat county as a whole, the bill
would have undoubtedly been railroaded through. The delegation wore Klickitat
badges and distributed printed matter giving the explicit facts of the proposed
division.
Members of the delegation from this city are D. Ledbetter,
John Coffield, N.B. Brooks, Chas. Rose, Frank Fenton, Robert McCrow, M.M.
Warner, David Vanhoy, Chas. Kayser, George Darland, W.H. Ward, Clay Thompson,
A.C. Chapman, Frank Coffield, J. Crocker and C.W. Ramsey.
