"BOYS TOWN" CHARTER RECEIVED
Donations of Money, Materials To Aid Boys Project Near Town
The Charter has been received from the State department
for the Columbia Boys Association authorizing them to go ahead with the formation
of the Washington edition of "Boys Town." Already the property has been secured
and work is starting to renovate the buildings to house the first twelve
boys.
Harold Hollenbeck has been added to the board of directors
and placed a donation of three hundred dollars in the hands of the organization.
Rees Stevenson mill, and Joe Crowe, donated around five thousand feet of
lumber for camp construction and Willie Gross had "Shorty" Martin on hand
with their lumber truck to haul the loads to the camp site. A call from Mrs.
Pearl McCormick stated that the Dorcas group of the Seventh-Day Adventist
Church have chosen the camp as their project for this year and will attend
to supplying some of the much needed equipment when called for by the
corporation.
Guy Jones of Husum has offered his services as chief
stump blower upper and Orie Kreps of the Wyers Trading Co. has offered to
supply the dynamite for this clearing operation.
The Soil Conservation department will advised the planting
of the garden plots and general laying out of the productive acres of the
property.
Any group or individuals who would like to offer any
help are rebuilding of this project are requested to phone Major F.H. Blake,
