BINGEN NEWS
(By the Booster)

BINGEN, WASH. Dec. 23 -(Special) Bingen, incorporated, is located on the mighty Columbia, a station on the S.P. & S. Railway and the Evergreen highway, is the most beautifully located town on the Mid-Columbia. Having these three transcontinental transportation systems, it can be seen at a glance that such facilities are far above the average. We wonder how a small town of about 450 population can be such a large shipping center between Vancouver and Spokane. The reason is that all business is centered here. We have two large box factories, a large saw mill, two fruit packing warehouses, four warehouses to handle fruit and one up-to-date cold storage plant, platforms for loading lumber, three gasoline distributing stations more than any town on the railroad, showing the reason why business should locate here. Bingen is well represented with business men handling groceries, hardware, dry goods, broom factory, cider mill, drugs, smoking supplies, machine shop, garage, plumber supplies, doctor, barbers, five fine service stations with Flamo gas equipped cabins with bath, a fine school building with a good corps of teachers, a gymnasium that is talked about by all, one of the finest water systems in the state improved in the past year by laying 1000 more feet of six inch pipe and two blocks of ten foot wide sidewalk which helps the looks of the town immensely. The improvements made and $700 bonds paid off annually. The town fathers have reduced the tax seven mills in the past two years, showing that Bingen will be the metropolis of the Mid-Columbia. Several new houses are going up this coming year. People can see this is a good place to build where there is work and a fine place to raise their family. The climate is ideal, sociability reigns. There is a well organized Woman's Club and the largest and finest dancing pavilion for those who like dancing and community gatherings. Two good hotels and four restaurants for the hungry and traveling public. Why immigrate farther when you have these opportunities before you. See Bingen.
The largest and finest vegetable and truck gardens in the county are right here at your door. Trucks are loaded daily for Portland markets. Three daily stages besides regular rail service east and west and not a boat on one of the most advertised rivers in the world. Bingen is accessible to the Mt. Adams playgrounds, ice caves and places of interest to the traveling public. A large hotel is contemplated at Guler in the Mt. Adams district for all those wishing recreation. Golf, fishing, hunting, and swimming are also reached by way of Bingen, a town that wishes you a Merry Christmas and a delightful New Year.
