BONNEVILLE DAM HEARING AT THE DALLES TODAY

     The Inland Empire Waterways Association hearing before the U.S. Army board of engineers on the advisability of dredging the Columbia river for deep draft vessels between Vancouver and the Bonneville dam, and installing sea locks In the dam, is scheduled to be held at The Dalles today. A delegation of representatives of various organizations and communities in the Inland Empire will leave The Dalles this morning in an automobile caravan to meet the board and accompanying army officers. Oregon state police will act as escorts.
     Members of the board to be present, in the order of their rank, are: Colonel Wm. J. Barden, Colonel Geo. M. Hoffman, Colonel Earl I. Brown, Colonel James A. Woodruff, Lieutenant-Colonel John Lee and Major Milo P. Fox.
     Accompanying the board are Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas M. Robins, division engineer from San Francisco; Major Charles F., Williams, district engineer from Portland; Lieutenant J.F. Gorlinski, executive officer, Bonneville dam section; R.E. Hickson, senior civilian engineer; and H.O. Butler, assistant engineer, and a court reporter.
     An invitation had been extended to the director of the association to lunch with the army officers before returning to The Dalles for the hearing, scheduled to begin in the circuit court rooms at 3:30 p.m. Presentation of evidence at the hearing is expected to take up the remainder of the afternoon.
     A 6:30 o'clock banquet will be held in honor of the officers this evening by The Dalles Chamber of Commerce at The Dallas hotel. It has been necessary to make the affair invitational because of the number attending who are directly concerned with the hearing and to the small size of the banquet room. Invititions have been limited to army officers present for the hearing, directors of the Chamber of Commerce, members of the maritime conference, representatives of the Inland Empire Waterways Association, city council-men and members of the port commission.
