Hi everybody:

I'm still working on the descendents of Hiram Worthington Dille. I have
one of his sons, John Henry Dille's children (my great-grandfather) worked
pretty thoroughly, but I would still love to find the others. They are:

Harriet E. Dille, born abt 1839 in IL
Delphi A. Dille, born abt 1842 in IL
Mary A. Dille, born abt 1845 in IL
Charles C. Dille, born abt May 1850 probably Iroquois Co., IL

John Henry Dille was born 11/02/1848 in Momence, Kankakee Co., IL.

Thanks to the list I have the ancestry back from Hiram pretty well
estimated, but I could really use help on the other children of Hiram and
ANYTHING on his wife, Alvina Robinson born abt 1816 possibly in KY. They
were married 12/27/1837 in Lake Co., IN.

I'm Teddy's cousin (first cousin once removed, I think it is <G>) and am also
hunting Deriah Dilley's ancestors.....very elusive folks they are! But I
think she's right about him being from Richard Senior's family, from what I
read in the results of some research she had done. The evidence pointed to
his father being Jonathan, though there's no actual paper found to absolutely
prove it as yet.

Since I can't go do the searching in person, I will take this researcher's
opinion as right until it's proved wrong......yeah, I know that's not the
REAL way to go, but the poor man does need a background!! <GG>

We've found out quite a bit about his children, though again there's not much
real paper to prove it for some of them.....they kept going to places without
much readily available in the way of records, unfortunately!

With the work that Ruth and Gerald have done over the years I am kind of
like a fat pig in a pig pen. Not much to do now but track down a relative
by the name of Warren Dilley and his wife Dee Dee who lived in the Arena
Wisconsin area when they retired and before that they lived in the town of
New Diggings, Wisconsin and had children Morris, Orris, Leorris and Doris
that I know of. so that is where my search is right now. Another project
is to start writing down on paper or computer the stories that I remember
Dad, Uncle Beauford and Uncle Albert told as we grew up as well as my own
observations of life in our family as I seen it. As it stands right now I
am the only one of the boys that has an interest in Genealogy (Did I spell
that right?) and it is got to be done. The fun part of all this was when
we opened our Christmas Presents and the boys each opened their individual
copies of Gerald and Ruth's book. It is the first time we have ever really
sat down and discussed their roots and where they come from. As you can
understand they are a bit confused about all this. They were both born on
the island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean and when they grew up they were
first in Nevada and then back to North Dakota where they got settled in with
one set of Grandparents. But the Dilley family has always been a long
distance bunch of voices that call on the phone. They only went back there
a couple times and now even Grandma Dilley is gone. Another good story
would be the brother that built a $4,000.00 dog house two years ago so that
he would not make the same mistakes on the main house when he built it on
the old home place. Not sure how much I will go into the things I have done
but I am sure some of them will make the writings also.
Well enough for now.
Take Care All
From the Dilley that has his feet frozen to the earth in North Dakota.
(Does anyone know when spring will get here?)

His father was born in PA according to census records. John married Sarah
Elizabeth Moad in MO about 1860. He was probably married once before that
according to family legend.

I have just learned ( from Lorrie ) that there was a John Dilley family in

COULD
BE THE FAMILY I AM LOOKING FOR. Does anyone have any information on

Yes, still here, looking for a Lee Dillie, possible father of Joseph Winfield Dillie Sr, father of Joseph Jr., my grandfather. Lee (maybe short for something, or a middle name, but it was just like this on his tombstone) lived to be 101 yrs old, born 1819, died 1920. He actually lived 1 year longer than his son. That's all we know about him. He is buried beside Joe Sr. in the Dillie/Harless Cemetery in Cabell County, WV. Joseph Sr. was married to America Lucretia Hatfield, Dau of Andrew Lewis Hatfield. Any one with this name?

Good Morning,

I am home for a couple of days.

There is anopther our our Washington Co., Oh. researchers who has reaaly been doing some research by the name of Joy. I have given her everything I had on this Dilley line.

At the moment we are hopeing to find something on John Horace (Hoddy) Dilley. My brother remembered grandpa talking about UInkle Hoddy. However, I was only @ 4 to 6 so I do not remember anyu name of places where "Unkle Hoddy lived. All we have is the information of John Josepoh Dilleys Civil War Pension.

Now We have also heard that Curt Dilley, John "Hoddy's" brother, went to Ky. and rode horses as a jockey.

Joy sent me a compilation and so I'll just copy it instead of writing my own, Joseph SAmuel Dilley's wife Llydia Ellenwood, died in 1890 @ 49 years of age, (have actual dates etc. in the records) Their children at that time were Joseph Floyd (my direct line) @ 19, Cukrt @ 18, John "Hoddy" @ 6, Harry @ 4 (Joy's direct line) and Dot @ 2.

Harry was 12 years of age when he left home. That means that John was 14, Curt was 26 and Joseph Floyd was 27. This would have been in 1898 or close to that time frame. Curt and Joseph were married in 1894. According to records, Curt was in Kansas at the time of his marrage and Joseph was in the area of ElReno, Okla. The obit of Cukrt's refers to him living most of his adult life in and around Norcatur, Decatur Co., Kans. Curt had a daughter who married a Mr. Croy.

For this time frame, it would not have been unusal for two boys ages 12 - 14 to do some travelling on their own and this maybe the time when they John Horace (Hoddy) and Harry may have gone to Ky. Harry appears to have always loved his horses according to that familyu line.

If you might have any imformation on John Horace Dilley, any John H. Dilley, would you please let me know.

Beth

I am researching my great-grandfather, William H. Harrison Dillie
(Randolph Co. IN) son of Aaron Dille of Jay Co. IN. I have Harrison's
Civil War papers and those of his brother Andrew J. Dille. Andrew died
after the Battle of Vicksburg. We think another brother or half brother
was George Washington Dille who entered the war from IL and died during
the war although he had a number of children before he left for the war.
Gradually we have pieced together several sisters. Bob Jordon and
Chuck who I met on this list serve have done extensive work on Aaron and
we think he is the son of Aaron Dille Sr. Some of our early work (I
have found 4 people working on this line from my participation with this
list serve although for 6 months I was all alone) is posted on the
Dilley web page. I am gradually working on volume 2 of all the email
exchanges from April 01 to present.

I have been concentrating on my mother's side of the family recently so
I have only had an occasional piece to share on the Dillie family. Also
Oregon is a long way from IN so I only get a chance to do local research
for a day or two each year and my relatives aren't too thrilled that I
don't want to spend all of my vacation in IN with them!

It looks like the parents of my Jacob Dilley (m.Elizabeth Bird) are Christian
and Mary (Hevelar) Dilley.
Previously I had his parents as Martin and Catherine (both born in VA). This

Catherine then??
Do I have my information right that Jacob's parents are indeed Christian and
Mary?

Ted, you are quite the Dille cheerleader!!!...greatly appreciated!!!
My Dille line ends with Susannah Dille--born 4/15/1818--Dille's Bottom,
Belmont Co, OH...she married David Weesner 7/13/1837 in Grant Co, IN.
David Weesner died of cholera on 7/22/1849...she married Milton Thomas
9/6/1857...she died 1865..and is buried in the IOOF cemetery in Marion,
IN. Interesting enough, Milton Thomas then married 4/9/1866 another
great grandmother of mine---Rachel Beatty Wyant who had been married to
Harrison Wyant--11/15/1833. Their daughter Elizabeth Wiant married
Micajah Weesner(David and Susannah's son)..1/5/1858.
It slips my memory right now, how many times we found a Milton Thomas
marriage...he was a very strong man..:))
Susannah Dille's father was Ichabod Dille born 6/3/1783 in Bridgeport
Co, NJ and according to the 300 years book died 11/10/1868 in Champaign,
IL...
Anyone else related to this Ichabod Dille have any info on this???
Also, has anyone been to Dille's Bottom, OH? We would love to go there
some day...and could use some tips on where our Dilles are buried, etc.
Thanks!!!...Rose

Hello,

Having recently joined this list, I shall briefly list my DILLE line.

You all are well aware of the David DILLE line, so I'll begin with David, Jr., who married Nancy Viers. He was my g-g-g-g grandfather.

It's running late in the month but there's so much going on. Need to
spend much more time on our "Dilley" genealogy searching.
Our line is from:
Johnathan Dilley 1741 - ?
Thompson Dilley 1763 -1824
Joseph Dilley 1791 - 1868
Edmond B. Dilley 1820 - 1905
Robert Henry Dilley 1845 - 1922
Malcolm Dilley 1899 - 1993
Courtney Garner Dilley 1926
I have lots of questions on the half sisters and brothers of Malcolm and
the Aunts and Uncles of Grandfather Edmond B. Trying to put the
information that I have to date in the computer. Then will be asking for
lots of help from many cousins out there. One question that comes to
mind is: Aunt Pelina, daughter of Edmond B. She married William H.
Pecor - June 18, 1871 - Grant Co., WI. We visited their tombstone @ the
Belle Center Cemetery, WI last summer - but that was the only information
we could find. There must be some cousins nearby as there was some
recent artificial flowers on their graves.

Hope this is not too long but would like to thank Ruth and Gerald for
putting together such a wonderful Family Book, Robert L. for his lineage
and Marie Dilley Kincaid for her information, along with Rootsweb.
Sometimes it's a wonder that we're not all related as with Ruth and Bob
it's a near miss with myself by marriages in our families.
