I am presenting my direct lineage below (to the best of my knowledge), and am seeking personal information on any of the members listed, their siblings, and sibling information. Corrections and Sage Words of Wisdom are both solicited and appreciated. [email protected] [email protected] The Donnie F. Chandler Family direct lineage: 22-Sherlee Qiang Chandler - b. 6 Jan 1996/ d/o 21-Donnie Frank Chandler - b. 22 Sep 1955/ -sp.-Mei Qiang s/o 20-Orland Elisha Chandler - b. 31 Aug 1912/1996-sp.-Burneice Faye White (25 Dec 1925) s/o 19- Alonzo Harris Chandler - b. 8 Dec 1856/1929-sp.-Lucy Weeks s/o 18- Robert Bailey Chandler - b. 24 July 1820/1887 (Union, Ms)-sp.-Mary Jane Wade "R.B. Chandler," served as a Private in Company F, 5th Regiment Mississippi Infantry (State Troops). Company F was raised in Winston County, and mustered into State Service at Louisville on August 15, 1862. The 5th Regiment was organized at Meridian, September 5-6, 1862 where it remained on guard duty until October 12, 1862 when it was ordered to Columbus, where it remained on guard and picket duty until April 7, 1863, when it was ordered to Vicksburg. The 5th Regiment was on duty with Moore's brigade guarding the south-eastern approaches to Vicksburg over the Big Black River during Grant's advance. The 5th Regiment was not engaged in the battles of Port Gibson, Raymond, Jackson, or Champion's Hill. During the seige of Vicksburg, the 5th Regiment did good service, being in the northern portion of the entrenchments of the Confederate line. Today, there is an historical marker not far east of Fort Hill at Vicksburg for the position of Brig. Gen. Jeptha V. Harris' Brigade of State Troops to which the Fifth belonged. The Fifth Regiment endured the seige, and was surrendered and paroled on July 4, 1864. The Regiment was permanently disbanded in September 1863. s/o 17- Robert Chandler (b.1775)-sp.-Margaret Johnston (will confirm dates later) s/o 16 Bailey Chandler (14 Jul 1751) -sp.-Tabitha Jackson (will confirm dates later) recorded as fighting at King's Mountain, SC., in American Revolution. s/o 15 Robert Chandler (1720-1805)-sp.-Parthenia Bailey (1732->1805) s/o 14 Joel Chandler(?)-sp.-Precilla(?) s/o 13 Robert Chandler (@1654)-sp.-Elizabeth (Davis?) s/o 12 Robert Chandler (@1626)-sp.-Elizabeth (?) s/o 11 John Chandler (1600-London, England) Order of Descendants of Ancient Planters--John Chandler is believed to have been born about September 7, 1600. The Chandler Family Association publications say that John Chandler arrived on 6, June in 1610 at Jamestown, Virginia on the Hercules of Rye at the age of nine. The expedition of three ships led by Sir Thomas West, Lord Del Aware landed on Sunday morning June 10, 1610. We do not know of the circumstances of his family, if he was alone or with a mentor. The ships list of passengers lists him as a "single gentleman" John lived adjacent to Albanio Lupo in Elizabeth City County, Virginia. John survived the epidemics and Indian raids. He was single in 1623 when the list of the living was taken after the Indian massacre. In 1620, 1200 had been counted, but only 60 remained alive after the Indian attacks. John was still single in 1624 he was living in Kiccoughtan, later Elizabeth City County, when he listed in a military unit run by Thomas Willoughby to whom he was indentured. He must have married not long after, for his son Robert was born about 1625-1630. He married the widow of Albiano Lupo (who died in 1626) Elizabeth -?- Lupo, prior to 1636. This marriage brought ownership of 400 Acres of harbor front land into John's ownership where that land remained intact until the 5th generation when Hannah (Chandler) began selling off parcels in 1718. In 1632 He was farming land that he owned or leased, and in 1636 he patented 1000 acres for himself and his "now wife Elizabeth," on Harris Creek in Elizabeth City, today within the city limits of Hampton, VA. He lived to be a prosperous planter, representing Elizabeth City in the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1645-1648. He was Justice of the county Court in 1646-1658, and may have died soon there after. John Chandler's reference to his "now wife Elizabeth" would indicate a first wife who had died before 1636, and who was the mother of Robert Chandler of York County. >From the Chandler Family Associations Newsletter Volume III, Number III, P.O. Box 8132, Lakeland, FL 33802-8132. February 1994. *He arrive in Jamestown in 1610 on the ship Hercules. *He is listed in the Muster of 1624/1625 as a single man age 24. *He acquired land in Elizabeth City co., VA and lived until his death on a large tract of land that bordered in Warwick Co. *His marriage to Elizabeth Lupo, widow, was apparently his second Marriage. It should be noted that there were other Chandlers who were immigrants to America at later dates. They are not related in this country to the 1610 John Chandler of Jamestown, although it is possible that there may have been a connection before coming to this country. John Chandler b. ca. 1600, d. ca.1660, arrived in Jamestown Virginia in 1610. John Chandler was the first of the Chandlers to come to America as a permanent resident.. s/o 10 John Chaundeler (1510-Oare, Wilcot, Wiltshire, England) - The largest concentration of Chandlers in England was probably in Wiltshire from the earliest times and the next largest group was once to be found in Hampshire. The name has spread to most corners of England by the time of the Jamestown settlement in 1607. There was a John Chaundeler in the 1585-6 expedition on Ronaoke Island, Sir Walter Raleigh's first colony, of which 106 men (or thereabout) including Chaundeler returned to England in June 1586. s/o 09 John Chaundeler (b. 1480, Wiltshire, England) s/o 08 John Chaundeler (b. 1450, Wiltshire, England) s/o 07 Robert Le Chaundeler (b. 1420) s/o 06 John Le Chaundeler (b. 1390) s/o 05 Simon Le Chaundeler (b. 1360) s/o 04 Roger Le Chaundeler (b. 1330) s/o 03 Richard Le Chaundeler (b. 1300) s/o 02 Richard Le Chaundeler (b. 1270) s/o 01 Nicholas(i) Le Chaundeler (b. 1240)-Normandy France s/o 00 Le Chaundeler (b. 1195)
