EMIGRATION: Ferdinand as a teenager moved with his parents to Wiste, Alberta,
arriving in 1909/1910. In 1916 Ferdinand moved back to Ashley, ND. It is
believed he lived in Ashley, ND, thereafter and did not return to Canada to
live.

LAND: Homesteaded in Canada in 1910, moved onto the land 16 June 1910, proved
up this claim and received Patent 13 March 1914.

OCCUPATION: From his obituary: "Ferdinand was in the general store business
with his brother, Gustav, in 1917 and 1918 in Ashley, ND. He then went into
the cream business and for the past 17 years has been manager of the North
American sub station. He also was an active member of the Ashley Fire
Department, having been a member almost from the time of its inception."

Ferdinand married Louisa SCHENK, daughter of Heinrich SCHENK and Louisa DIENO, on 6 July 1915 in Ashley, McIntosh Co., North Dakota. (Louisa SCHENK was born on 5 May 1890 in Utica, Yankton Co., South Dakota,⁴ died on 23 January 1963 in Elko, Elko Co., Nevada ⁴ and was buried on 28 January 1963 in Lutheran Cemetery, Ashley, McIntosh Co., North Dakota.)
