[1] Elizabeth Dewhurst Derham moved to Newburgh, New York to work
in the Newburgh Bleachery. In England, she and her girls were cotton winders.
Children of Elizabeth DEWHURST and George DERHAM are: Jane Ann b. Feb. 13, 1881
in Livesey, England d. 1962 Newburgh, NY; Nelly b. 1883 in Blackburn, d. 1884;
William b. April 18, 1885 d. 1966 Newburgh, NY; John (Jack) b. 1887 in
Blackburn d. 1906 Blackburn; George b. Dec. 29, 1889 ( my grandfather) in Blackburn
d. 1968 Newburgh NY, married Ethel SCOTT Nov. 22, 1922 in Newburgh NY; Elizabeth,
sons Wm, George and daughter Jane, w/husband Dick Parks emigrated to Newburgh
NY in May 1912. We have a family story that Elizabeth was psychic and foresaw
the doom of the Titanic. The family had tickets on the Titanic and exchanged
them at the last moment because Elizabeth wouldn't get on the ship. She had
a bad feeling about it. They took the ship Coronia over to the states.
