The CLARK family can be found in Castle Hedingham, Essex, as far back as when the parish registers began in 1558.  Unfortunately, for anyone researching family in this village, there is a gap of nearly 20 years in the registers in the early 1700s, so although there are many of the same surnames on either side of the gap, connecting them using the church records is difficult in most cases and impossible in others.  I can see a lot of probable CLARK family members before the gap, but because they all used the same names for all their children, cannot connect them with any degree of certainty, so unless their baptismal records turn up in an adjacent parish, I might not be able to take this tree back any further.  Some Castle Hedingham families certainly had their early 1700s baptisms at nearby Sible Hedingham, but not, apparently, the CLARKs.
