Affleck Genealogical Resources

Welcome!

This is the home page for genealogists researching the Affleck surname. It is a community effort and I hope that if you know of any link that should be here, you will drop me a line and let me know about it.

One note: I myself am researching Afflecks but am focusing (at this time) on a group that immigrated to Rhode Island in the 1800s. As such, sending queries directly to me will likely not be of great benefit to you. instead, I suggest you post your query to one of the mailing lists or GenConnect boards listed below.

Mailing Lists
It's no secret or surprise that the biggest strength of the Internet is people helping other people. For the Affleck surname and its variants, there are a number of online resources. First, mailing lists.

I know of two lists:

Rootsweb
This is the main mailing list for Affleck research. You can get basic info about it at RootsWeb, but to subscribe, just send mail to [email protected] (or, if you prefer the digest version, [email protected]) with the word "subscribe" in the body of the message. That's all there is to that.

Rootsweb also provides a link to everything AFFLECK at their site (and conveniently pre-filled-in search engines): http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/a/f/AFFLECK/

Familysearch
I started this list while experimenting with Familysearch.org when it first went online in April 1999. It has received a small amount of traffic but I have been actively encouraging people on that list to head towards the one above. But it's there and if you want to use it for some reason. go for it. You can get to it via http://familysearch.org/Share/default.asp

Rootsweb GenConnect Boards There are three GenConnect boards dedicated to Affleck research and communications. They are:

About this site

This site was designed and put together by Andy J. Williams Affleck. Over time, it is hoped that it will grow with the input from other Affleck researchers on the 'net. If you have anything to suggest or add, drop me a line at [email protected]
