EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA., August 1988. Received post-graduate credits in business, computers, law, history, and education. Total hours: 200+.


Focus of College Education:

Thirty-three hours of Accounting include: basic, intermediate, advanced, cost,
managerial, tax, corporate taxes and laws, manufacturing and auditing.

Fifteen hours in Finance include: business and personal finance, real estate,
money & banking, and investments.

Twenty-four hours in Computers include: system analysis, microcomputer applications,
COBOL, and evaluation and use of computers in education. Seven years experience, plus
classes on PC and classes on mainframe. Programs include: WordPerfect 5.1, 6.0, MSWorks, dBase III+, Lotus, Certiflex Accounting, Peachtree Accounting, UTS Tax, Lacerate, MD-DOS, Basic, etc.

Nine hours in Management include: organization & management,
production systems, and management policy and simulation.

Eighteen hours in Office Administration include: typing, business machines, business
communication, electronic data processing, and administration office management.

Legal Assistance Program (paralegal) classes include: real estate, mortgages, title
abstracts, corporations, family law, legal research, notary public, estates, wills, trusts, and

PAST EXPERIENCE

Accountant & Internal auditor for the largest group self-insured workman's comp fund in the state. (May 1994) Duties include primarily processing active and cancellation audits, compiling in-house audits from customer's payroll records, and reconciling customer's accounts. Have also processed cancellation/rescinsions of policies, account receivables billing and processing of payments, teaching new employees the data-processing program, solving problems with daily deposit slips and batch files, establishing a collection routine for audits of active accounts, assisting the collection department, assisting underwriters with policies, and special financial projects. Also assisted controller with A/R, A/P, payroll taxes, and computer accounting problems. Other activities have included editing a
newsletter and other mass correspondence to policy holders, reorganizing the filing
system, setting up an inventory and purchases system. (May 2, 1994 - September 1, 1995)

Tax Accountant for Waskom and Associates, Public Accountants, Natchitoches, as office
manager and head tax preparer at the Colfax branch office during the 1994 tax season,
handling assorted tax accounts, both individual and business. Responsibilities include:
analyzing reports and records including balance sheets and income statements, data entry
using Universal Tax Systems software, electronic filing of tax returns, Refund Anticipation
Loans, out-of-state non-resident tax returns, and other accounting duties, as required, as
well as preparing pre-season letters to clients, client write-ups, preparer summaries, and
client relations. (Dec 1, 1993-April 18, 1994)

Free-lance and self-employed: Public Bookkeeping and Income Tax Preparation for
individuals and small businesses. (Tax seasons of 1991-1993)

Writing and publishing computer, business, and research articles.
(1992-present)

Part-time continuing education teacher at The Computer Club in
Alexandria and Louisiana College in Pineville. (1992-1993)

Teaching-computers and reading. Includes instructing and testing students in operating
systems, BASIC programming, word processing, database, and spreadsheets. Also taught

Bookkeeping and office manager for Womack Trucking, a small family-owned trucking
firm including complying with Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) regulations along
with fuel and road taxes for a six (6) state area, billings and dispatching. Computerized
accounting and payroll. Also compiled SBA loan proposal with purchases requirements,
budgets, 10 years cash flow, loan repayments schedules, collateral listings, etc.
